ADAM POV

This whole week we have all been on tenterhooks waiting for Taylor to go into labour. She was 4 days overdue and had been pretty miserable for the entire 3 week leading up to her due date.... Lottie was at school every day, having started first grade, and I was working from home in case Taylor needed me for anything.

"ADAM!" Taylor called down the hall, making me jump up and rush to her side in the living room.

"Yes?" I asked, ready to get her anything she might need.

"Can you help me get to the bathroom?" She asked, smiling shyly. She was lying on the sofa watching TV and could now no longer get up.

"Of course my dear!" I told her, smiling back at her and we navigated getting her up and across the hall to the toilet.

"Thanks babe!" Taylor said, giving me a light kiss and waddling into the bathroom, closing the door.

The rest of the day was spent with Taylor watching TV and reading in the living room while I worked at the dining room table on a project that I had been assigned for a national magazine last week. Luckily the project wasn't due till next week and I was almost finished the layout for it.

"DADDY! I'm home!" Lottie called out, coming through the open front door. Her best friend from school lived down the road from us, so I would walk the two of them to school in the morning and Lilia's mom would bring her home in the afternoon. Lilia and Lottie also did dance together so on those days Lottie would come home after dance instead of right after school.

"Hey bug!" I greeted her as she took off her coat. I knew she was back by the fact they had buzzed up and I had opened the door so she could get in but it was still nice that she announced her presence.

"Is the baby here yet?" She asked me, looking hopeful.

"Not yet....do you have homework?" I asked her, smiling at her.

"Just reading.....can I read to Tay and bean?" She asked, getting her reading book out of her backpack.

"Go for it! She'd love you to read to her. She's in the living room." I told her, ruffling her hair as she passed me. I then went back to finish my work for the day before cooking dinner.

Lottie had luckily stopped sulking about the new baby and accepted it now, especially as we told her how helpful she was going to be as a big sister and made her a chart she could put stickers on when she did things like helping to bathe the baby, or change the baby's clothes, or helping with dinner.

TAYLOR POV

People always say that the last little bit of a pregnancy is uncomfortable but it's worth it in the end....it better be worth it because right now I can't even get off the sofa alone and I need to pee every 5 minutes.

"Hi Tay! Hi bean!" Lottie said, skipping into the living room and giving me a kiss and then giving my belly a kiss.

"Hey bug!" I said to her, "How was school today?"

"It was so much fun! We started a new reading book. Can I read to you?" She asked.

"Of course you can!" I told her.

LOTTIE POV

I was getting a little bored of waiting for bean to be born....it was taking A LOT longer than Tay and daddy told me. Every night I made a wish before going to bed that bean would be born the next day...but so far I hadn't been successful. I guess we just have to wait. I will remind bean of this when we are older.

This year we were doing more reading and maths and spelling which I loved. We also had art classes and had started learning the recorder.

Today I had to read the first 2 chapters of our new book for homework. It was about a boy who joined the circus and made friends with a little girl who would walk on the tightrope. I loved reading, especially when I could read to Tay or daddy because they always listened carefully and congratulated me when I was done.

TAYLOR POV

This morning I woke up feeling more energised than I have in weeks....which was weird but I wasn't going to fight it.

"Can I walk to school with you guys this morning?" I asked Adam and Lottie as we ate breakfast.

"YES! Come to school Tay!" Lottie cheered, bouncing around as she ate her cheerios.

"Are you sure Tay?" Adam asked, concern visible on his face.

"Yes. I need to get out of this apartment and walking is meant to be good for getting labour started." I insisted, smiling sweetly at Adam and trying to relax him.

We were soon out the door, off to the local elementary school where Lottie went. It felt great to be outside, and it was surprisingly warm for the end of September with a light breeze and the leaves starting to change colour ever so slightly.

"You know we were meant to be getting married soon..." I said to Adam, dreamily.

We had postponed the wedding when we found out when my due date was, deciding to have a spring wedding next year instead so the baby could be part of it.

"Yeah, but instead we are going to be bringing a new life into the world....which might be even better in my books, no offense..."Adam replied, making me smirk.

"Yeah, I get what you mean...." I said.

"Bye daddy! Bye Tay! Bye bean!" Lottie said

"Bye girls!" I said as Lottie and Lilia walked into the playground and joined the line for their class, greeting their classmates.

"She is going to be an amazing big sister, you know..."I said as we turned back to go home.

"Yeah, I know. She's really caring and lively. I think she's getting really bored of waiting though. She seems really bummed out every afternoon when she comes in from school and dance." Adam replied.

"Well, aren't we all at this point?" I replied. I sure was. "Could we just stop for a second on this bench?" I asked Adam, feeling all of the sudden really drained.

"Yeah, of course babe. You ok?" He asked, concerned again.

"I think so...just felt a little weak all of the sudden...." I replied, smiling a little crookedly at him as we sat down on a bench and I leaned on him.

"We can sit here as long as you want." Adam replied, pressing a kiss on the top of my head.

I close my eyes slightly and just took advantage of the fresh air and slight breeze. That was until I felt tightness around my belly, as it someone snapped a tight elastic band around it.

"Hmmm." I hummed, suddenly grabbing Adam's hand.

"What are you thinking about babe?" Adam asked, oblivious to the fact I was in slight pain.

"Maybe this walk wasn't the best thing to do today...." I said quietly.

"Why?" Adam asked.

"I think...wait make that I know...bean is coming now." I said, feeling a slight pop and wetness inside my leggings.

"What? Now? Oh god....we have to get back to the apartment." Adam said, leaping up looking as panicked as possible.

I started laughing at him, making him frown.

"Wait, are you joking?" He asked, obviously confused by me laughing in what should be a serious situation.

"Nope, very much not joking....um....just help me up and we can go back to the apartment and then maybe head to the hospital?" I asked.

"Let's go have a baby!" He said, helping me up and walking next to me until we got to the apartment.
