Zayn

I unlocked our front door and walked in with Louis trailing behind me as we wheeled in his suitcases.

"Ev?" I called out, slipping off my dress shoes and setting them aside.

"In the kitchen!" she replied.

We entered the kitchen as Evelyn began pouring soup into a bow for Louis. He took a seat on one of the bar stools as I made my way towards Evelyn and hugged her from behind. I let go so then she could bring the bowl over to Louis and maybe even talk to him and soothe him. There's something about the way she talks that makes you feel at ease and I love that about her.

I left them to talk alone and made my way to the man cave where the lads were.

Evelyn

Zayn gave me a small smile and left the kitchen as I took a seat next to Louis. I've never seen him look so dreary and it saddened me.

"It's my hangover soup," I explained. "I've been making it so much lately for the guys. It'll help ease the headache a bit when you wake up tomorrow morning."

He looked at me and smiled weakly. "Thank you so much. I really didn't intend on showing up shit faced but drinking kept my mind off her throughout the whole flight." He began eating spoonfuls of the soup and would stop every now and then and kept looking down.

"It's okay, really," I assured him. "I'm all ears, Lou."

"I've been real homesick lately," Louis began. "In fact, I've been homesick for so long ever since I moved to Seattle but the only reason why I stayed was because of Melanie. Just the thought of leaving her hurt too much." He quickly wiped his tears away and apologized for looking like an emotional wreck.

"Don't be sorry." I rubbed his back soothingly and waited for him to continue. I didn't want to force him to spill out everything all at once so I'm patiently waiting.

"I've brought up the fact that I've been missing home way too much and that I miss my mum and baby sisters. She understood that but I didn't want to come back unless she came along. She had just gotten a job as a kindergarten teacher and she is so happy about it. She's worked so hard in college for this and I didn't want to take that away from her just because I wanted to come back home."

"She said she would think about it and possibly move her career over here but she just started. We were sitting at the dinner table and asked her about it after giving her weeks to come up with a final answer. It lead to arguing and she told me that it'd be best to part ways." He exaggerated those last two words.

"Part ways?" Melanie made it seem like Louis was on board with the whole thing. But clearly, he wasn't.

Louis nodded. "She said that its best for me to come back home and for her to continue her career in Seattle and I respect that one hundred percent. And long distance isn't going to work out."

"But have you two considered long distance?" I asked, trying my best not to push the subject deeper but I just wanted to know what he thought of a long distance relationship.
