As I lay on my bed, staring up at the spinning fan, my head started to spin in sync with the fan. I followed the fan’s pattern with my eyes, becoming dizzier. My head thrummed and spun as I quickly tried to figure out what I was going to do. I couldn’t possibly go to a private school-that’s where all of the preppy bitches went. But then again, my mother was wealthy…I just can’t see myself walking through the halls of a private school. And St. Matthew’s, at that.
Most people would tell me that I was taking this a bit far, what with the dramatic reactions and such. It’s not exactly my fault that I was acting this way. I really should learn to control my temper, but I would’ve never thought that my mom would order me to a private academy. It just wasn’t like her.
To make matters worse, I start tomorrow. I'll have to get up half an hour earlier just to go to some building that looked like a castle. I’m not even joking. St. Matthew’s is one of the oldest buildings in our town. It was built in 1879, the year that my ancestors moved here. They moved right from New Castle, where my great grandfather had raised his family. According to my mother’s stories that had been passed down multiple times, my family almost never moved to America.
Anyways, it’s almost hard to believe that it’s practically been two weeks since the bonfire. It’s also been two weeks since I had my first kiss, and sex for the first time. To top it all off, Michael and I haven’t talked since. I’ve been so busy being trapped in my house to ever get out. My mother finally figured out that I wasn’t going to the grocery store all this time, but actually going to the ice cream shop down the street. I've sometimes gone there to escape my mother when she gets really upset. She knows that I had consumed alcohol that night, but she doesn’t know that I lost my virginity…
My phone buzzed on the bedside table and the screen lit up shortly after. Sighing, I reached over and slid the keyboard up, reading the text message from Leah. It said that she was almost at my house. As a final get-together, my mother agreed to allow me to go over to Cale’s house. Leah and I would be joining him for a Chuck marathon. We started watching the first episodes together, and have been ever since the beginning episode came out. However, things would soon change. Considering I wouldn’t be going to the same school as them, anymore.
I stood up and walked over to my closet, sliding the door back to take a look at my clothes. Switching my blue denim shorts, I slipped those off and put on a pair of red sweat pants. When we have movie or show marathons at Cale’s, we don’t worry about what we wear. Usually it’s just sweat pants or pajamas. I put on a black tank top, sliding it down a bit to show off some cleavage. Something strange that I've noticed, is my breast size. They've grown. Honestly, I don’t remember learning about that during sex-ED class, but…whatever. I’m proud. I’ve always been pretty flat-chested, but now I’m not. And I’m going to show that off before it’s too late. No worries, though; I have my limits.
Quickly, I ran into the bathroom and yanked a hairbrush through my hair to get the tangles out of my dark curls. Usually I would straighten it, but again, I’m just going over to Cale’s. My phone buzzed again and I grabbed it, holding it up to my ear with my shoulder as I pulled my hair up in a bun. “Hello?”
“Alex,” Leah yelled, making me jump in horror. “I’m outside your house.”
“Okay, I’ll be down in a sec’.”
