A/N: this is the last time I'll post on Pinterest about an update so follow me or add this to your library! I'm so sorry for the delay in updating! School has been absolute chaos and then I had surgery so I'm very very sorry! Thank you for sticking with me!!! (Also that photo at the top is one my sister took at our concert! :) )
Michaels POV
"No. You are not fucking assigning her to someone else! I've only had her for a day!" I yelled into the phone.
"For goodness sake Michael! You let three people see her on the second day of having her!" My boss yelled.
I sighed as I ran my fingers through my hair. "It was just the boys! You're out of your damn mind if you think they would ever do anything to risk her identity!" I spoke harshly.
"That's not the point, nephew." He said, causing me to roll my eyes.
"I promise you I will not mess this up. She's different." I spoke.
I could hear him sigh. "One more mistake, Mike, and she is being reassigned. I put you in charge of this company after everything happened with your father for a reason. Don't let me or him down." He spoke sternly.
"I won't. Thanks so much for believing in me." I sarcastically remarked.
"Sure. Get back to work, kid." He said before hanging up.
"Nice to talk to you too." I said to no one as I slammed the phone down.
That's my uncle for you. I do one tiny thing wrong and he has to call and blow everything out of proportion. Out of my four years of working here without a single mistake, I let my friends see Blair and he acts like the world is going to end. He may not understand that those three boys would never say a single thing about her to anyone, but I sure as hell know that.
I sighed as I angrily pushed my chair out from under me and walk over to the small liquor cabinet in the far corner of my office.
None of this would be such an issue if my uncle would get off his damn high horse and stop trying to micromanage my life. I'm twenty one now and I'm positive I can run my life and this business without him. Somehow I'll have to prove that to him before he tries to replace me.
Before I could even sit back down there was a quiet knock on my door.
"Come in." I said quietly setting my drink down.
I watched as the girl with once brown hair, uses both hands to push open the wooden door in front of her. Her eyes wandered around the room as her mouth parted slightly.
Once she was fully in the room I couldn't help but look her over. Her hair had been drastically changed, cut way shorter and dyed a blonde that was slightly darker than mine. Instead of the normal straight hair she adorned it was now wavy in the most beautiful way possible.
"Wow." She spoke, dragging me out of my trance.
I quickly pushed my chair out and walked around my desk.
"I was just going to say that." I smiled causing her to jump a bit. Obviously she had been too busy gawking to notice me.
"Hi." She blushed and looked down quickly before looking back at me.
"You look-" I stopped trying to find an accurate word to describe her.
"Weird." She laughed lightly.
I shook my head, taking a few steps towards her. "Beautiful."
She smiled before looking at the wall behind me. "Thank you."
I hardly knew this beautifully broken girl but I could tell that from years of being verbally spit on by the trash that forced themselves upon her, she looked down on herself.
"Hey-" I said lightly bringing my hands to rest on her hips. "I mean it. You're stunning Blair."
She smiled before taking a step forward and wrapping her arms around my waist. I wasn't sure what it was about this girl but I wanted to protect her with every fiber of my being, and I would make sure to do that if it was the last thing I did.
---
"Alright. We've got popcorn, soda, chips, and lots and lots of chocolate!" I said raising my eyebrows in a weak attempt to express my shock for how much chocolate I seemed to have purchased. "What are we missing?" I asked as I looked around.
"Nothing. Just come sit down." Blair groaned as she paused the movie.
"Oh!" I said suddenly remembering what I forgot. "Tea. I forgot the tea." I mumbled as I walked back into the kitchen to grab the two steaming mugs on the counter.
When I walked back into the living room I couldn't help but smile as I looked at Blair. She was wrapped up in a big blanket with her legs tucked up under her, the only noise being the rain and thunder from outside.
"Here you go, love." I smiled as I handed her the cup of tea. "Be careful, it's still hot."
She smiled and nodded. "Thank you. Now, can we watched the movie?" She asked as I sat down right next to her.
"Of course." I laughed and subconsciously placed my hand on her leg.

We were halfway through the movie went the thunder grew louder and the lights flickered.
"Can I confess something?" Blair spoke quietly.
"What's that?" I hummed as I looked down at her. During the time of the first half of the movie the sweet girl had progressively moved closer so now we sat with her leaning against me and my arm lazily draped around her shoulders.
"I'm scared of the dark." She softly said.
I let out a small chuckle as I pulled her closer. "You'll be just fine. In my three years of living here I've never lost power." I spoke and as if on que we were left in nothing but silence and darkness.
"Mikeyyy!" She whimpered. "You jinxed us!"
"I'm sorry!" I panicked as I felt her body tense. "Wait here." I mumbled before pulling my phone out to illuminate my path to the kitchen.
"You would leave me alone when I literally just told you I was afraid of the dark!" She sarcastically remarked.
"Quiet down. I'm doing something productive!" I mumbled as I reached under the sink to grab some candles and a lighter.
"Doubt that." She mumbled followed with a light witty laugh.
I rolled my eyes and attempted to stop the small amused smile from forming on my lips as I lit the two candles.
"You know something?" I asked as I shoved my phone in my pocket and picked up the two candles.
"Yeah, I was head of my class. I know a few things." She remarked.
"Ha. Ha. You're hilarious." I grumbled as I walked into the living room.
As I set the candles down on the table I looked over to see the light illuminating her face, a smirk plastered across her features.
"I really am." She smiled.
"No you're not." I laughed as I laid back down on the couch. "Now, come here." I said extending my arms out.
She hesitated at first, just looking at my arms and my chest, before she finally nodded and cuddled into me. We stayed quiet just listening to the rain and thunder as we stayed in each others embraces.
The lightning from the skylight above would occasionally illuminate her face causing me to grin. Her hair was still tied in a messy bun and she laid her head on my chest.
"You were asking me if I knew something earlier?" Blair spoke up before letting out a yawn.
I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion. "Right. I don't remember where I was going with that though." I lightly laughed.
"S'okay." She mumbled.
I just hummed in respond before allowing the beautiful silence to engulf us. I couldn't help but think about the conditions she had been in before this. Everything that she had gone through just pissed me off. I know I need to just focus on now but I know things are about to be pure chaos when she doesn't show up for work tomorrow. I wouldn't ever let those assholes near this precious girl again wether that meant they take my life instead of hers or whatever.
"You know, you're different, Blair." I spoke as I softly traced lines on her back. "I don't understand it fully but I just feel this pull towards you. We have only known each other for two days but at the same time I have such a strong desire to protect you. I know that's my job but even if it wasn't I know that desire would still be burning inside of me. I won't ever let anyone take you away from me, okay?" I said softly waiting for her to say something. "Blair?" I spoke as I looked down.
Her eyes were closed tightly as her lips had parted taking in small and slow breath. She hadn't heard anything I had just said.
