Blair's POV
My eyes fluttered open again as Michael rubbed small circles on my hipbone. My back was pressed to his bare chest as we both laid in silence. I tried to process what just happened but I didn't understand why. Had he just used me? After everything?
"Michael?" I asked quietly.
"Hmm?"
"You still don't love me?" I questioned, although I'm not sure I wanted to know the answer.
He hesitated before giving the answer I dreaded. "No." He said through a sigh.
I shut my eyes tightly as pain consumed my body. "Okay." He had used me, just like everyone else has. I wanted to cry, I was so close to crying so I decided to try and distract myself. "Will you tell me how you got into this business?" I asked and turned around in his grip to face him but stared at his chest so he wouldn't see me cry.
He sighed before rubbing my back. "I did say I'd tell you, didn't I?"
I only nodded and drew little lines on his chest with my finger.
"It's all a blur and a giant mystery as to why this happened still," he sighed. "But some guys just stormed into my house one night when I was about seventeen and took my mother and shot my father right in front of me.
He stopped taking a sharp breath like he was in pain.
"I was on my own for three years before I found my mom. She had been sold into a slave industry and eventually I had enough money to get her out and restore her to full health. She's still traumatized but she's getting better. Ever since then I just wanted to make my dad proud and make sure no girl had to go through what my mother did."
Suddenly my rage for the boy simmered to nothing as I wrapped my arms around his and held him.
---
"Oh!" I shouted excitedly as we walked through the busy streets. "Can we get ice cream?"
He let out a deep chuckle before steering me away from the crowd and to the ice cream shoppe. "Do you even need to ask that question?"
"Guess not." I mumbled as he held the door open for me and followed closely. My eyes scanned the small building before landing on someone familiar. "Mikey." I spoke as I tugged on his arm to get his attention.
"Hm?" He asked but stopped when he spotted the person I had seen. "Oh, let's to say hi."
Michael grabbed my hand and led me over to the curly haired boy who was sitting alone in the middle of the shop. Michael reached out to put his hand in his shoulder but Ashton had already turned his head and let a smile take over his face.
"Hey! Long freaking time, mate!" Ashton fake scolded as he pulled Michael in for a quick hug. "Hey Blair, how are you?" He asked as he gave me a quick hug.
"So, Ashton what the hell are you doing in an ice cream parlor by yourself?" Michael asked as he looked around for anyone who could potentially be with his friend.
Ashton let a grin spread across his face before saying simply, "I'm on a date."
"With yourself?" Michael laughed.
Ashton let out a loud laugh and slapped Michael's arm but shook his head. "No, with Kate. She's just in the restroom right now. Oh-" Ashton said as his attention diverted to the back of the store. "Actually, here she comes."
Michael and I both turned around to see a beautiful young girl walking towards us with long brown hair and a slightly confused smile on her face. Her smile quickly fades as she looked to Michael but she continued walking to Ashton until he had his arm wrapped around her. I looked up to Michael to see his jaw set and his shoulders tensed. Somehow Michael knew this girl and it sure as hell wasn't in a good way.Michael's POV
This is unbelievable. How could I not have put two and two together when Ashton had first told me about meeting her? She was coming to Australia for a job, at my company.
I watched as Ashton carried Blair away in a conversation which, normally would have pissed me off but seeing as I needed to talk to Kate.
I lightly nudged her arm with mine, making it look like I accidentally bumped her as I went to scratch my head.
"What the hell are you doing with my best mate?" I said quietly as I kept my eyes on Blair.
"I didn't know you two were friends." She spoke lightly.
I sighed and ran my hands over my face in frustration. "End it."
Out of the corner of my eye I could see her head snap up to look at me. "What?"
"You're putting his life in danger just by being associated with him! If someone wants information out of you they'll attack him till you give in and I won't have that."
"Michael-I'm not just going to leave him. I love him." She spoke catching me by surprised.
Could it really be that bad? She's a great girl that I know she will treat Ashton right and Ashton does seem to be extremely happy about his relationship. I don't think I've ever seen him smile this much or gush about a girl like this before. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if they stayed together. No. No, it would. Ashton could be used and tortured just so someone could find out about one of the girls in the organization. Hell, they'd even go to the extent of killing him to get what they want and I don't think Kate realizes that.
I turned to face her before speaking lowly. "End it or you're fired." I said through gritted teeth before I quickly grabbed Blair's arm and said a short goodbye to Ashton.
