Michaels POV
I knew the second she pointed that asshole out that we had to be quick but we weren't quick enough.
Blair squeezed my hand so tight I thought she may break it. I was the first to turn around as I pushed Blair behind me.
"What the hell do you want?" I spat at Mark.
He smirked and looked at the flight attendant behind me. I'm sure she was wildly confused but she wasn't my priority, Blair was.
"I want my money maker back." He said.
"Why?" I asked.
"Why-" he started before I cut him off.
"Why do you want her back if you're just going to kill her?" I spat.
He let out a laugh as he looked behind him. "She belongs to us."
"She doesn't belong to anyone but herself." I yelled. It pissed me off that he viewed her as an object rather than a human being.
"Mikey." Blair whispered behind me.
I quickly looked back to see the flight attendant give a knowing nod and signal to the plane entrance. 'Go.' She mouth.
I nodded before pushing Blair quickly. "Too bad you'll never get her back." I spoke and quickly turned around to enter the plane.
I watched as the flight attendant hit the button to close the door but quickly reached out and grabbed her arm to pull her in the safe plane.
"Thank you." She spoke. "I'll alert security."
I nodded before turning around to look at Blair. She had tears streaming down her face with pure terror in her eyes.
"Hey- Sh Sh. You're okay." I whispered as I engulfed her.
"H-he was going to kill me." She stuttered.
I squeezed her tightly before drawing back to look at her. "No one will ever hurt you while we're together, understand?"
She nodded shyly before looking around.
"Let's go sit. I know you're tired." I said grabbing her hand and letting the flight attendant deal with our bags as we walked to the first class section.
Once we got settled and I had thrown a blanket over the shaking girl beside me she allowed herself to relax a bit as she leaned into me and was out within minutes.
---
"Can we get pizza?" Blair spoke up as we walked past a Strada while we walked through the Heathrow airport.
"Uh," I paused to look at my watch to see how long of a lay over we had here. "Yeah, of course we can." I smiled.
As we made out way over to the small restaurant I squeezed Blair's hand in reassurance. She was acting like she was okay but she was mere minutes from death, or so she thought. There in no way in hell that I would ever let anyone hurt this girl again.
After we ordered and quickly received our food we went to a more quiet part of the airport to sit and eat.
"Can we go to the beach?" Blair randomly asked before taking another bite of her pizza.
"What?" I laughed.
"Michael, I can't just go to Australia and not go to the beach." She spoke with a stone cold serious expression.
I let out a small laugh before sipping my drink. "I'm not much of a beach guy but I suppose we can."
I looked up from my food to see her staring at me with her mouth open. "You're Australian but you don't like the beach?" She asked accusingly.
"Actually, I just don't like the outdoors." I said and laughed when she rolled her eyes.
"We are not going to get along very well, Mr. Clifford." She laughed.
I laughed and opened my mouth to reply but was interrupted when my phone started going off. I swear if my boss is calling me, I'll punch him the next time I see him. I sighed in relief as Ashton's names popped up on the screen.
"Do you mind?" I asked Blair and showed her the screen.
She smiled and shook her head.
"Hey Ash-"
"Michael I met a girl!" Ashton yelled.
"Hello to you too." I said again.
"Yeah hey! I have to tell you about her!" He shouted. I could tell Ash was very excited but did he have to be so loud?
"Well go for it. I don't have all the time in the world." I laughed and looked over to Blair.
"Oh right. Okay well her name is Kate and she's absolutely stunning, Michael!" He rambled excitedly.
"Is she? What's she look like?" I wanted to laugh at his excitement but held it in.
"She's got brown hair and her eyes- her fucking eyes! Gosh they're so green and beautiful and she's short-well not short but short to me because I'm a giant. Anyways she's so funny and is probably the sweetest person I've met!" He continued.
"You mean sweeter than me?" I gasped and held in my laughter.
"Shut up, asshole. I mean it! She's really sweet and you won't believe it but she's coming to Sydney in a week to intern for some place."
"Intern for some place? Sounds fun. Now how exactly did you meet her?" I questioned.
I want to be happy and excited for him but he's such a hopeless romantic. He always takes one interaction to mean so much more but then he later finds out that she didn't have the same intentions as he did. You can't fall in love with someone after only meeting them once.
I looked up at Blair to see her smiling at me.
Right? I mean you can't fall in love when you hardly know someone.
"Michael!" Ashton screamed in my ear.
"What?!"
"Were you even listening?" He grumbled.
"Yes, you met in an airport and she asked you to get your lazy ass away from the outlet." I repeated.
"That's not how I said it, dick. But yes. Isn't that sweet?"
"Sure Ash. Just be careful. I've got to go mate." I said excusing myself.
"I will. Bye mate." He said before hanging up.
"Is he okay?" Blair asked.
I smiled as her consideration. "He's great."
She nodded before returning to looking around the airport.
What is the chance that out of every case I've had, which is hundreds, that I could be feeling more for this girl?
