Episode Eight ∞ Start of the ‘Game’

Last episode of Mr. Winter Meets Ms. Blondie!

Rapunzel finally found out that Mother Gothel abducted her; while her origins are still unknown to her, Jack Frost came to the rescue. But when everything goes wrong...

Welcome to the mid-season story!

“Let go of my hair!” Rapunzel pleaded.

Jack Frost was gritting his teeth as he swerved to avoid a tall tree. He wanted to take Rapunzel away, but he also doesn’t want anything to happen to Mother Gothel. Accidentally dropping off and kill old women wasn’t part of his job.

One time, Rapunzel slipped from his grip as Gothel was still vigorously climbing up using her hair. She avoided obstacles, and no one would mistake her to be more than a hundred years old.

Gaining courage and her senses, Rapunzel took her hair in her hands. With a quick flick, her hair waved and Mother Gothel lost grip. Dramatically, she fell on the woods.

Jack was about to sigh in relief as they decrease speed. Now what? He, nor Rapunzel didn’t know where else to go. They got away from the tower. They managed to leave her power-obsessed, lunatic ‘mother’. But Jack can’t tell where to go next.

Admittingly, Jack knew he should be taking Rapunzel to the kingdom—to return her to the king and queen, her rightful parents. But something stopped him. Something felt wrong.

“Where are we going?” Rapunzel asked him.

He settled her on his back. “I have no idea.” He lied. “Maybe a safe place for you to spend the night over.”

Rapunzel suddenly worried about her safety the moment he said that. It was indefinite and cryptic. A part of her was thinking Jack was hiding something from her.

About a few more yards from where Mother Gothel dropped, Jack and Rapunzel landed. It wasn’t much, but a broad tree seemed to offer her a peace of mind. And the tree had a strong bough high enough for her to perch on.

After getting up in a branch about ten feet from the ground, Rapunzel and Jack sat down comfortingly. Still in her sleeping dress, Rapunzel can’t help feel cold—especially the spirit of winter being next to her.

Her eyes fell on the staff Jack Frost was holding. She had just noticed he’d been carrying it around everywhere and every time. From a memory, she had seen the ‘stick’ do wonders.

“Are you sure you’re alright here?” Jack asked her. He noticed she was oddly silent.

Rapunzel nodded painfully. “As long as I’m away from her, I’ll be alright.”

As if agreeing to her, Pascal the chameleon went up to her shoulders. What made Jack laugh was the chameleon’s seemingly inebriation.

“He’s drunk,” Jack said, pointing at Pascal. Its eyes were rolling around the sides.

“Nah.” Rapunzel came to get him from her shoulder. “He’s my best companion.”
