Episode Twelve ∞ Mother Knows Best

Last episode of Mr. Winter Meets Ms. Blondie!

If there’s something that’s been bugging Jack endlessly, it’s either his thoughts or Dementia—and the latter just visited him. Although a lot of what she said seemed to have sense, Jack was doubtful to take it personally—even that time he was asking himself if he shouldn’t really exist.

And then Dementia was getting what she wants slowly.

Not really far away from the kingdom’s outskirts, Rapunzel was just about to have her good night’s sleep. There was a part of her that came out excited when she climbed a tree and found out she’s near the kingdom.

She’s never been there. Well, physically not, but there were books in her tower that had some things about the kingdom. Once in a while, Rapunzel paused to the thought of going into a civilized, flourished place. There’s got to be a good leadership and cooperation within the people there.

But then, it would be dangerous and tiresome to walk for some more and reach the bridge. From maps and stories, Rapunzel knew that she had to get to the town right away once she reached the bridge. And there would be no telling that the town she was rooting for was wide and just big—she could be lost there in the middle of the night.

Nonetheless, she started a fire again under a tree. If it hadn’t for the sunrise and the sunset, she would lose track of days. And there was no way she would attempt to return to the tower.

She had her mind back on about that tower again. No matter how much she started loathing those lost years she spent there, there were still some good things worthy to be remembered there.

Like the sunny days when Jack was visiting her.

Oh my God, Rapunzel thought once the image of Jack sets in her mind. I’ve been a mess.

She was unsure if she was missing Jack Frost—or was she even still mad at him. There was a part of her that wanted to be with him again. There was a part of her that is constantly blaming her teenage emotions. There was a part of her that hated it when Mother Gothel interrupts her moments with Jack.

And before she knew it, her mind was already swearing. If Jack will come again, I’ll take all of this away.

Mother Gothel hadn’t really been bad to Rapunzel—except for those times Rapunzel wanted to go out, or mumble while talking, or talk about things Mother Gothel didn’t want to talk about. Setting aside the fact Mother Gothel kidnapped her from her real parents—whom she had no idea where to find, or even who are they—she still had been a mother to her. She bathed her, gathered food for her, and did a lot more things she could remember.

But then, it just occurred to her that maybe, all Mother Gothel cared about was her power.

As Pascal sets himself on her lap, Rapunzel stroked the chameleon’s back. Pascal changed color, and matched himself to the colour of Rapunzel’s newly washed nightgown. It might seem trivial, but she found a pond to dive on yesterday. She certainly couldn’t help wanting to feel fresh and clean again.
