A Royal Hiccup

Hiccup found the back of his neck to be heating up as he fought back any tinge of nervousness that threatened to plague his mind. He was the chief after all. First impressions are important. He could afford to step on the Queen's foot or look stupid in any manner. Then the music started and he tagged along as the queen lead him through the dance. He felt the weight of everyone's eyes bear down on him as he waltzed with Elsa . Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Astrid giggling silently as she watched him struggle on. "Calm down, King Haddock." Elsa had noticed his face getting worked up as he waltzed. Trying his best to regain composure, he corrected her, "About that.... uh you see my queen, they refer to me as chief , not as king. We don't name our monarchy as 'kings' back on berk.". Slightly surprised ,Elsa apologetically replied. " oh I beg your pardon. Chief haddock, I hope I didn't cause you any distress. ". So she had noticed his face wincing the countless times he had been called as 'king' since he had gotten there. Mustering up some courage, he diverted the topic. " you kingdom is beautiful queen Elsa , and I love the view of from the royal courtyard . " " Thank you , chief, and assume that berk is similarly gifted in natural beauty , am I correct?" She said. " wellll. The view from land is not as wonderful as it from the sky." He only realised what he had blurted out after he noticed the confused expression on elsa ' s face. " uhhhhh..... I mean. .. yeah. Yeah the view from Berk is great the view here is far superior." He stammered "Hmmm. Chief.... The dance is over . It is time for the dinner to begin...." she said as she eyed his face questioningly . Hiccup looked around and noticed that the music had stopped and everyone was staring at them. " Uhhh. I thank you for the dance my queen." He said hurriedly. " and thank you for accepting my proposal. Shall we? " She nodded as she gestured to her table where he could see Valka, astrid and a few other royals sitting. He nodded his head as the music started and the engaged couple and the other guests took to the dance floor.

"For someone who has had no previous experience of ballroom dancing you seem to have a knack for it , chief. " Elsa said as she wrapped her arm around his as they walked around the dining area , mingling with the ministers and Lords who were in attendance. " what? Me? I just happen to be a quick learner I guess. " he said indifferently. Her lips curled into a smile as she turned towards the prince and princess of corona . To his surprise, the queen merely tapped the girl dressed in pink. She had shoet chocolate brown hair , almost the same color as Hiccup's , and it hung slightly above her shoulders.
She turned around and her face lit up in happiness.Her big green eyes widened as she exclaimed "Elsa! I haven't seen you for so long!" . The girl hugged Elsa tightly. She then turned to smile at Hiccup. "And who is this?". Elsa, for a moment having forgotten Hiccup's presence, stepped back and introduced them. " May I present to you, Chief Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III of Berk , across the northern Isles." ."She then faced Hiccup. "Chief, this is my cousin sister and her husband, Princess Rapunzel and Prince Eugene of Corona. ". " Chief Haddock?" inquired Prince Eugene, slightly smirking. He was a few inches taller than Hiccup and he had long straight hair that was neatly pulled back across his face. He sported sported a small goatee on his chin and it emphasised his strong jaw. He clearly had the air of being someone who defined the word 'charming'. " You didn't tell me you are of royalty .". " I'm sorry I'm confused , how do you two know each other?" Intruded Elsa , clearly confused just like princess Rapunzel was. " we met earlier today in the ice hall when Rapunzel was with you and Anna. He seemed to be looking for someone and I obliged. But he didn't say that he was a king." Cleared Eugene. " Uhhh I was looking for my accompanying party as they seemed to be lost in there somewhere. " finished hiccup . Prince Eugene raised his eyebrows and continued to smirk. "So. You bring your dragons?"n Prince Eugene asked. This left Hiccup in a state of shock. How did he know? Did the dragons escape? He looked at Princess Rapunzel and the Queen, who were merely looking at him, confused. "Is there a problem, Chief?". Elsa asked. He stammered, " H-How did you know that we....well...We have dragons?". The three of them looked at Hiccup incredulously. "You surely didn't think that your events with the red death word wouldn't reach that the vikings had tamed the dragons?". Elsa asked. Hiccup ran his hand the through his hair, as he did when he felt nervous. " Well . I was under the impression that you all didn't know about the dragons and I was trying to keep it a secret.". Eugene chuckled. "Sure you didn't think that we were that deaf or oblivious that we wouldn't hear of the dragons from the northern isles now did you?". Hiccup just chuckled awkwardly. " Well.... to be honest... I was kinda hoping nobody did know about them. ". When he said this, Rapunzel and Eugene began to laugh heartily. Elsa then bowed out. " I hope you all enjoy your evenings. I have something to do. ". They all nodded and watched the queen dissapear into a sea of fancy dressed folk.Then, Astrid caught up to him. "Hey, Valka's gone back to the room. Says she needed fresh air. Hic-- ". She stopped mid sentence when she realized that a brunette couple was peering curiously at her. "Who are these two?". Hiccup gave her a glare for her impoliteness but luckily, Princess Rapunzel and Prince Eugene didn't seem to be too bothered by the Viking's brash behavior. Rapunzel smiled widely at Astrid. "Hi there! You must be Hiccup's friend! I'm Rapunzel and this is my husband, Eugene! It's so nice to meet you!". She took a hold on her husband's arm as she spoke and he smiled down warmly at her before turning to the Vikings with a mischievous look in his brown eyes. "Great ... another Mr charming. I've been trying to get away from this guy from Denmark. ". Eugene chuckled. I do hope you will not drive us away Astrid, I was a thief before I married a princess, and despite her attempts to turn me around, I must admit that my less honorable side wants nothing more than to cause as much gossip as anyone possibly could." Eugene answered her with a wink. At first, Hiccup thought Astrid would say something brash, but to his amusement she blinked once, almost as if she had to collect her thoughts, before a smirk spread over her face.
"You know, I think we are going to get along pretty well, Eugene." She said as Rapunzel smiled widely.
"Looks like you have finally found a group of people we can actually get along with , bonehead." Astrid put her arm on hiccup's shoulder. "So how is your impression of Arendelle so far?" Rapunzel asked them brightly.
