Prologue

Post graduation party.

I sit across Tyler on a table where all of our friends are celebrating. I never knew Tyler can sing this good. I know he's good with music but singing? I heard him hum a tune once in awhile, but in front of an audience? Didn't expect this to happen.

He looked at me as if he sings the song for me. It's been months since the last time we talked. That incident with Brad brought so much trouble between us. We were never able to patch things up. We always argue. Almost everyday. Until both of us grew tired and eventually the friendship died.

I don't know why he picked this song. He knows I love this song. Somewhere only We Know by Keane. I look back at him and everything that happened to us all throughout the year came back to me like a cannonball.

Hurt. Pain. Betrayal.

I looked away. Avoiding eye contact. I stood up from my chair and walked to the bar. My back on the crowd. I don't want them to see the hurt in my eyes. The tears that are threatening to flow.

We just let everything die in front us. We cant fix this anymore. The pain is too real. The wound scarred our lives. I know I love Tyler, but he cant trust me. I cant trust him. We've hurt each other again and again.

I tipped my shot glass. Letting the alcohol drown my feelings. I have to forget. To let go.

I cant do this anymore. I cant let my heart be crushed by the presence of him alone. His voice fades as he finished the song while I walk out of the bar. Leaving my friends behind,leaving him. Leaving everything behind and never looking back.
