"The best way to not get your heart broken, is pretending you don't have one."
― Charlie Sheen
Stacey
"Stacey.. Stacey... Are you with me.. Breathe sweetheart..." I can hear Jonathan's voice from a distance. I can't open my eyes. My lids are heavy.
"Tyler... Tyler..." I whisper in between my ragged breaths. I'm hyperventilating. My head is heavy, I can feel the loss of oxygen in my body. I can't control it.
"Shhh... Don't talk, the medics are gonna be here.. Stacey... Wake up... Stace... Sta..." I try to be awake. To stay awake. But I can't. My life is worthless, I have nothing. He's gone. Tyler is gone.
Im dreaming.
I know I'm dreaming. He's here. He shouldn't be here. We're back in Corona. The place where we grew up. I'm young, he's young.
'Tyler... ' I whisper, but he's too far from me.
'Hey babe. Here, listen to this.' He's suddenly right next to me. He hands me an earphone and smiles as he plays the song.
' I walked across an empty land'
'I knew the pathway like the back of my hand'
'I felt the earth beneath my feet'
'Sat by the river and it made me complete'
'Oh simple thing where have you gone?'
'I'm getting old and I need something to rely on'
'So tell me when you're gonna let me in'
'I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin''My favorite!.' I squeal as I bring him to a hug.
'No. Let go of me! Let go of me Stacey!' He pushes me away.
'No...Tyler... Please... Please come back...' I look around but he's gone.
'You're dirty Stacey. Just like them. Look.' He laughs loud enough to ring in my ears. I look at where the voice is from. Tyler is surrounded by a lot of beautiful girls. Every girl looks like me.
'Tyler... Tyler..' I cry. I scream but he doesn't hear me. He walks away with them.
'I don't need you anymore Stacey. No more.' A wind whispers in my ear.
'Tyler! Tyler!" I scream at the top of my lungs. Begging him to come back.
"Hey... Hey... you're dreaming. Stacey..." I open my eyes and see a familiar face. Jonathan.
"He's gone Jon. Even in my dreams, he's gone." I let my feelings out. I cry. My sobs drown us in this room. After a couple of minutes, I suddenly take in my surroundings. White. Everything is white.
"Hey, its gonna be okay." He touches my hand. I look at it and I see an intravenous line. Hospital.
"Wait. Why am I here?" I turn to face him.
"You passed out sweetheart. You remember what happened?" He asks calmly.
"I do." I blink back the tears. Of course I remember what happened. Every single word from Tyler's mouth is etched deep in my heart.
"After that, you had a hard time breathing, I called the medics and we brought you here yesterday."
"When can I go home?" Home. Where would that be now? Jonathan sees the hurt in my eyes when I realize what I said.
