“Sophia, Hailey, come sit with us!” Ashley invited during lunch.

We sat down with Ashley, Mary, and their friends. I was never one to become friends with Ashley’s crowd. She was a popular girl. She was nice, unlike the others, but it wouldn’t be long until her ego gets in front of her.

“Oh my God, did you see what she was wearing today?” One of the girls at the table said.

“She seriously needs some help! I felt like I was going to puke at the sight of her!” Another girl scoffed.

This was the reason I didn’t really like them. It was incredibly disrespectful. They just weren’t nice people.

I sat in silence while eating my lunch. Hailey was talking to the table. She mostly talking to Ashley the whole time, but I felt excluded. They had all these inside jokes from their lacrosse team. I wasn’t one for sports which is why I stuck to my music. I just ate while everyone at the table laughed and gossiped.

“Sophia, you’re so quiet!” Ashley said.

Everyone started to look at me. I felt uncomfortable and just nodded. I continued to eat as if no one had said a word to me.

One of the girls whispered into Ashley’s ear, and she let out a very loud, obnoxious laugh. Ashley then spread it to Mary and Hailey. While I was waiting for my turn to hear what they were talking about after the laughter, it never came.

“What was so funny?” I asked, slightly offended that I was forgotten in the situation.

“Oh nothing. Don’t worry about it!”  Hailey told me while starting to laugh once more.

“I like to laugh, too, so please tell me what was so funny.” I demanded.

“Calm down, Sophia. We told you not to worry about it.” Ashley rolled her eyes.

I rolled my eyes back at her and tried to shrug it off, but I simply couldn’t. It was obvious that they were laughing at me about something. That’s why they wouldn’t tell me. That was exactly why I didn’t talk to people like this, but I was working with them, and they were nice to me in rehearsal. Let’s just hope it stays that way.

I only had to suffer one more hour after lunch, and then it was straight to rehearsal. Luckily, time flew and the final bell rung. On my way out of the building, I passed the music room and admired the sign-up list for the talent show once more. Our names were signed up this time next week. We had enough time to practice.

I walked out the entrance and started for Ashley’s house. When I walked past the only great restaurant in this town, I saw the boy with the dark hair and blue eyes. I’d have to get his name. It was killing me to not know.

“Hello, there.” I smirked at him.

“Oh, you said ‘Hi’ first this time!” He said in disbelief.

I started to laugh. “Aren’t you going to say ‘Hi’ back, though?” I asked. Was I being flirty? I absolutely was.

“Hello, random girl I see every day whose name I still don’t know.” The boy rolled his eyes.

I started to walk closer to him. “It’s Sophia.” I said.

“I’m Louis.” He held out his hand to shake. I noticed his arm was covered in tattoos. I never really liked ink, but it suited him well. I found it hot.

I kindly shook his hand. “It’s very nice to meet you, Louis.” I smiled.

“You too. I see you’re going somewhere, so I’ll see you around.” Louis grinned.
