My mom stood in the doorframe. “What took you so long? You should’ve been here 10 minutes ago.”

“I went to the bathroom at school before I left.” I lied. It seemed believable enough.

“Okay, then.” She accepted and moved out of the way so I could walk inside.

My parents had been acting much colder towards me lately. It was probably because I was a walking book of lies that disobeyed them. Luckily my dad wasn’t home. He was worse than my mother. He wouldn’t even look at me when he spoke to me. I felt it was more disappointment than anger.

I went into the kitchen and started snacking on the grapes left out. They were the red ones, my favorite. My mom came in and joined me.

“How was your day at school?” She asked.

I reflected back on my day. It was overall fine. It was great actually, until the end of the day when I walked past the music room. Hailey was replacing me in the talent show. She was still talking with the people that made me feel like shit. It truly was betrayal considering we just made up.

Tears started forming in my eyes at the thought.

“Aw! Sweetie…” My mom consoled while attempting to hug me. “What happened?”

“Talent show…Hailey…replacement.” I could barely form the words. I was crying.

“Hailey is replacing you in the talent show?” My mom asked in disgust.

I nodded while putting my head down on the table.

“That bitch. I’m sorry, honey, but that’s a dick move.”

My mom’s words made me feel a little better. Even though she was upset with me, she wasn’t totally against me.

“What do I do?” I asked.

“There’s nothing you can do. I would consider getting new friends, though.” My mother suggested while leaving the room.

Well, I had Jack. He was nice to me. I still had Louis even though I was forbidden to see him. I was sure to make more friends in the future. I just had to deal with the few I had now.

I took out my phone realizing I never replied to Harry’s text that he sent a few days ago. I read it.

Hailey is really great! She even let me kiss her good night. We’re going out again soon. Thanks for setting me up with her! Xx

She’s not really all that great. She can be kind of terrible, but I wasn’t going to ruin his feelings for her. I was going to reply kindly.

I’m so glad you had a great time!!! Oh it was no problem at all! That’s what friends are for :)

That was nice. He’d surely appreciate it.

My phone started ringing. I was getting a phone call. I expected it to be from Harry, but it wasn’t. It was from Hailey.

I hesitantly accepted the call.

“Hello?” I said, trying to act as if nothing were wrong.

“Hey, girly! I have a quick question.” Hailey chirped.

“What is it?” I asked.

“Would it be okay if I went into the talent show group with Ashley and Mary?”

No. “Yeah, sure. I don’t care.” I mumbled.

“Great! Oh, and I have one more question.” She asked.
