Louis dropped me off at school the next morning as he had been doing. He seemed to be in such a great mood today. It rubbed off on me because I started being peppy myself, which was unusual for a Friday.

“See you later, babe. I won’t be outside after school lets out, but I’ll pick you up at your house later.” Louis smiled.

I nodded in excitement. “Okay! I look forward to it.”

“Great! You should.” Louis chuckled.

He kissed me goodbye and drove off.

I walked into my school. Once I did, I saw Ashley and her very angry mother leaving. Ashley had her backpack on and it looked like her whole locker was stuffed in there. Ashley’s eyes met mine and I felt hatred in them. It was like a death glare.

The next thing I knew, Mary came straight up to me and slapped me coldly across the face.

“You bitch! You got Ashley suspended and now we can’t be in the talent show! You’re so selfish! I hope you die in a hole.” Mary shouted.

I was too focused on the pain in my cheek to care about anything that she was saying. I heard that she called me selfish.

“I’m sorry you feel that way.” I said with a grin.

I saw Mary exploding with anger. She slammed me up against the wall and muttering words I couldn’t even make out.

I heard heels loudly walk down the hallway.

“Mary Castles! Get off of her!” Mrs. Smith shouted.

Mary pulled away quickly in fear. “It’s not what it looks like!” Mary defended.

“I’m sure of it! In my office. NOW!” Mrs. Smith demanded.

Mary sped walked in there. Before she walked in, she faced me and gave me one last ‘I hate you’ look.

Mrs. Smith hurried over to me. I was still leaned up against the wall. I was more in shock than anything. “I’m here to look after you. I promise she’ll never bother you again. Are you alright?” She explained.

I hesitantly nodded. “Yeah.” I mumbled under my breath.

“You’ve had a rough morning. Do you want to go home? I’ll give you permission to do that considering you are going through physical pain.” Mrs. Smith asked.

“No, I’m okay.” I said.

“Sophia, go home. It’s okay.” Mrs. Smith shot me a smile.

I returned the smile with a grin. “Thank you so much, Mrs. Smith. You’ve been really great to me. I can’t explain how appreciate I am.” I said.

I then hugged my assistant principal who was slightly awkward for a second, but she returned the gesture.

“Have a great weekend, Sophia.” She smiled after we stopped hugging.

“Thank you. You too.” I said and I made my way out the building.

I started to walk home. I didn’t want to bother anyone by asking them to come pick me up and drive me back home.

Once I got to my house, I noticed a familiar car out front. It was the same one that drove me to school earlier. I also noticed my dad’s car was still parked in our driveway. He hadn’t left for work, yet.

I was confused and unlocked the front door with my key.

“Hello?” I asked.

“Sophia?” I heard my mom call from the kitchen. “What are you doing home?”
