Message 1: Hey, Sophia we need to talk…now

Message 2: Hi…I really need you to answer me.

Message 3: I was a dick. I know that. Don’t be upset with me.

Message 4: Sophia, I’m sorry! Call me. Please.

I read all of Jack’s messages. They were all sent shortly after the incident. I didn’t really believe a word when he said ‘I’m sorry’. The way he treated Louis was a new level of disrespect that I didn’t even know he was capable of. He said that Louis didn’t deserve me. Jack doesn’t know a thing about Louis. That was all pure jealousy and it was quite immature. The respect I had for Jack was gone. He just attacked Louis because I didn’t love him.

Thoughts of the talent show tomorrow night flooded my mind. We were in it together. It’s either both of us or none of us because our act was a duo. I debated whether to call him or not. I knew I should, but I didn’t want to deal with that right now. I would definitely have to do it later.

Instead, I called Hailey. I could’ve used a break from everything to have just a silly conversation. It rang a few times before she finally picked up.

“Hello?” Hailey said.

“Hey, it’s me. What’s up?” I asked, looking for random gossip.

“Well, something important happened. I found out that Mary didn’t really get punished like Ashley did.” Hailey explained to me.

What? How could she not? She physically harmed me in front of the assistant principal. Mrs. Smith forced Mary into her office.

“Hailey, what are you talking about?”

“Ashley got suspended. Mary got a week of detention…that’s it.”

That’s ridiculous. She bullied me, too. Something wasn’t right.

“Why?” Was all I managed to say. I was too confused in trying to figure it all out.

“Apparently Mrs. Smith threatened suspension, but Mary’s parents donate a lot of money to the school because they’re super rich. If they suspended Mary, her parents would stop donating which would cut a lot of programs from the school and you would have angry rich people, which are never a good thing.”

“Shit.”

“Yeah, so we still have to deal with her.”

“Because I fucking need this right now…” I muttered to myself.  I use my free hand to rub my temple. All of this drama was giving me a headache. There’s no escape. One thing happens, and then comes another, and another. It never stops.

“You okay?” Hailey asked.

“I’m really not.”

“You still have the talent show tomorrow.” She tried to cheer me up.

“Yeah, with Jack who confessed that he’s in love with me, then once he found out I didn’t like him back, he verbally abused my boyfriend.”

“Whoa, when did this happen?”

“Less than an hour ago.” I responded.

“What did he say?” Hailey’s curiosity was taking over.

“Just that Louis didn’t deserve me. Oh, and he said that he made out with me, which he didn’t. It was just one small little kiss, one time.” I’m annoyed by the topic. Jack needs to grow up. This whole fight with him is ridiculous.

“Wow there, Sophia, you got all the boys chasing after you.”

I laughed at her comment. “Speaking of boys how’s you and Harry?” I haven’t really spoken to him in a while.
