My dad’s jaw clenched in anger and it was truly a frightening thing to see. When he was angry, he gets to a stage of violence where he’ll start throwing things and punching things. My mom and I try to move pillows and electronics away because he’s broken some in the past.
“I can’t believe some people!” My dad shouted while pacing around the living room.
I sat there in silence. My mom was trying to calm him down. Once he finally sat back down, he started to ask me questions.
“Well, what do you want to do about it?” He asked me.
I just shrugged. I didn’t know what I wanted. I could deal with it and try to work with Ashley and Mary, but that would cause more problems. I really wanted to be in this talent show, though.
“I can try.” I practically whispered.
“You should! It’s something you want to do, so you should work for it.” My mom said, sounding inspirational.
“Fine.” I said.
“How about you go to the bitch’s house and try talking to her. If you want to leave, then leave.” My dad expressed.
I laughed at him calling Ashley a bitch. Only my dad would say things like that about another person. I agreed to the plan.
I decided to call her up. She gave me consent to come over in a little bit. Before I left, I had another idea that my parents didn’t suggest.
I picked up my phone a dialed a number that was very familiar to me.
“Hello?” I heard her voice on the other line.
“Hailey, we need to talk.” I spoke over the phone.
“Why? Are you going to apologize?” Hailey asked me.
“Yeah, so can you come over?” I asked.
I wasn’t going to apologize. I didn’t do anything, but I will try to explain to her what really happened. Lying was the only way to get her over, though.
“Sure.” She hesitantly agreed. “I’ll be over in a few minutes.”
Hailey hung up.
I needed to make things right with her. She didn’t know what happened to me, and I missed my best friend. I needed my best friend.
A few minutes later, as expected, Hailey knocked on the door. We stayed in the living room and started to talk. She sat distant from me and crossed her arms as if irritated.
“I’m sorry, but could you please let me explain? You have to believe me.” I started off.
“Fine, go ahead.” Hailey said, sounding open.
“You’re my best friend.” I started to say. She rolled her eyes. “I hope you know that I would never ever say anything to hurt you!” I said.
“Could’ve fooled me.” She muttered.
“My Facebook account was hacked, Hailey! I would never post anything like that! You’ve known me for years! Would I do that?” I asked.
“The Sophia I know wouldn’t.” Hailey said.
“That’s because the Sophia you know didn’t.” I responded.
Hailey sat in silence for a little bit. She seemed as if she were figuring things out.
“Believe me. Please.” I begged.
There was more silence. “I believe you.” Hailey quietly said.
I let out a sigh of relief. “Thanks. Are we okay?” I asked.
