"James, you there?"
"Is he responding?"
"He has a steady heartbeat."
"James, wake up buddy." The lady saying it has a soft voice
I feel like a can't move, I raise my hand, and wave.
"Can you not wake up?" She asks
I put my thumb in the middle direction.
"Does that mean you don't know?"
I give her a thumbs up.
"Okay, well stay the way you are."
I hear her walk off and go talk to some other people.
"He's responding, I seems like he can't really open his eyes or talk though."
"Can we fix that?"
"He should be able to do that stuff soon, he's waking up."
"I don't understand, why was he out so long?"
"Probably cause his body hasn't responded to this, and his brain needed to recover, and also because of all the blood loss."
"How long is he going to be out of commission?" It sounds like Chloe
"He can attend the meetings and all that, he has to just restrain from physical activity for a couple of weeks, luckily the wound was a clean shot, it didn't mess with too much muscle and luckily it didn't hit his nerves endings."
"Okay, well we haven't planned anything as crazy as the prison break for quite a long time."
My forehead is so sore from trying to open my eyes. After a few more tries, my eyelids give way.
I get up a little bit on the bed, I look around. It isn't a full hospital, it looks like just a quickly set up response. Chloe walks past.
"Chloe!" I croak
She turns back, and looks at me. She comes running to my side, and hugs me.
"James! Thank goodness you're okay!"
"Good to finally see you, how long have I been out?" I ask
"It's been about 3 or 4 days I think?"
"Wow."
"Wow is right, how are you feeling?" She asks
"I feel fine, just stiff, and my leg has a bit of pain." I go to reach the spot, Chloe stops me
"You can't touch the area."
"What area?" I ask, confused
"You don't remember when you got shot?" She asks
"Can you give me some background detail of what happened?" I ask
"You went to go help one of our guys who was shot, you got shot in the leg in the process. We went to go break your mom out of prison."
I sit there, and think of it, I remember breaking her out, and shooting some guards. Then it comes to me, I was shot when I was climbing into the truck.
"Yeah, I remember that now, wow."
"Well, we are going to leave in a couple of days, so get as much rest." Chloe says, "Oh by the way, your family is staying with me, because the police is looking for your mom."
"What about my dad?" I ask
"We told him what happened, he's out of the brainwash."
"Good."
