"So Ashton is picking you up tomorrow morning?" Mum asks as she applies salad dressing to her lettuce."Mhmm."
"I won't be gone long, and I know you will have friends over," She lectures, I groan before she goes into more detail.
"Listen to me Annabelle, I was a teenager once, still wish I was." She huffs as she looks up and down at her body. Mum was a tiny person, I want a body like hers when I'm her age if I'm being honest.
"Anyway, I want you to know I do not condone drugs in this house, and if a boy happens to stay the night..."
"Mum, stop I don't want to hear it."
"Alright, alright," she sighs as I pick at my salad with my fork, "How's Ashton?"
I almost choke on my food when she asks, "W-what?"
She laughs and stands up, clearing the table, "I know he's crazy for you, I know I'm the age of an adult but I don't have the mind of one."
How. Embarrassing.
"I know," I blush and her eyes go wide. My mum's always been like a sister to me, of course she treats me like her daughter, but we share a lot of stories, it's not like she would tell anyone.
"We've kissed a few times, but we're not anything official." I giggle and she claps happily.
"Well as long as you're happy my princess," she starts, "just don't let him hurt you like Lucas did."
"I thought you liked Luke?" I questioned, she laughed at my remark, "of course I love Luke, bit edgy but I love him a lot, I love all those boys. Speaking of, I don't want you here during the night with all of them, hormonal boys they are."
"What the hell! Mum!" I scream and she laughs for the millionth time tonight. "Kayla will come too."
She shrugs and continues to clean up, "Finish up your dinner please." I shake my head.
"Not hungry, real full, thanks though it was nice."
She sternly looks at me, "Eat it." I return a groan, "I'm not arguing with you again Jo."
"Don't Jo me-" My notification goes off and I instantly snatch my phone from my pocket, smiling as I see it's from the group chat.
"Go on," Mum smiles and I look up at her, "I'll clean up here, your mates need you." She winks and I run to the couch.
