We all walk out of the compound, instantly looking around at our surroundings, because we haven't been outside in weeks. I am now back in the Seeriniss territory... my home and my beginning. All the familiar sights just remind me of what my life used to be and what is should have been, but instead it all changed for the better or worse, I'm not really sure yet.
"No I know this isn't the most tactical idea, that most would be okay with, but it is our only option to insure that we keep the power of the territories in tact. We have to split up to even someone make due with our plan, we will have four groups, some will have more people than others because of the amount we will need to keep the power. Ash, Kyle, Ian and Elise will be with me to the Capital. Caroline, Kyra and Shane are going to Courageous, Connar Cade and Miles staying in Seeriniss and then last but not least the group of Tyler, Caleb and Sophia," my mother says as she directs us like she is herding her little sheep. I see Sophia's face just light up because she gets to go home, for the first time in along time, it must have been hard for her since she has grown up to have everything and then get it ripped away from her in an instant. Thing is we have all had it happen, but now is the time to take it all back from the person who took it from us in the first place, my father.
"We need to get moving so say some quick goodbyes then all head out. I understand maybe not all of you are going to make it back, but we need to fight for this cause, it is what we have been training weeks for. Now if you succeed in the first territory spread to another and don't stop till we have gotten everything protected and under control, now if you finish that come back to the compound and wait for the rest of the survivors," my mother says so nonchalantly like our lives mean nothing. Caleb comes running over to Kyle and I.
"Please be careful little brother," Kyle says while he grabs Caleb in to a huge hug.
"You better take care of him for me, and keep him in check alright Ash?"
I smile at Caleb then say, "Of course what else am I do to?" I hug Caleb so tightly, he is like part of my family I would never want to loose him either.
As soon as I let go of Caleb, my mom yells to us, "We all need to move out now and at least cover some ground tonight, let's move!" We all look at each other, really taking hold of what we are really doing. We may never see each other again, this may even be the last time we will ever be our full group we all say our silent goodbyes and hopefully not our last. I look over to see my mother staring at me.
"Are you ready?" I just nod having no real response, she continues, "Goo we are going to have the longest trip, since all of the territories are in a circle around the forest, and then spread out, but the Capital is on the other side of what used to be the United States.
"Great..." I mumble to myself, as we start into the forest. The forest is just so familiar to me, just the sent fills me up, this to me is more like home. I drift to the back of the group to take my own pace and really enjoy the forest.
"What if we see any of Shadow's packs on our way?" Elise ask quietly.
"Well then we will just have to fight them before they can even get where they were ordered to go." When my mother says fight she just means we need to kill them, but will she ever really use the word; no. Kill isn't a word that was allowed in the Seeriniss vocabulary because we are supposed to be peaceful people, but we all knew what she meant there is no other way to stop people. No one decides to question anymore, but just keeps walking on all I can hear is the sound of the wind rustling through the tree tops. The bright light is shinning through the canopy of trees and it just feels so warm against my skin. I haven't felt sun in weeks since we have been in constant training. The feel of walking through the forest makes me think of one of Elise's perfect visions. I still have no understanding of why my father would want to destroy something so beautiful. But I guess God had created so many beautiful things but also had to create evil so it wouldn't be so perfect, but something like my father is to much evil, he will do anything for his cause and there maybe nothing to stop him.
