My group lingers a little after the others leave. We have a simple task all we have to do is head to the head of power of the Sereniss territory to persuade them not to listen to Shadow and his crazy mindless idiots.
"What exactly are we even going to say to them it's not like they are going to get involved since they are all about peace for the whole world and all that shit?" Connar ask me, like he pretty much gave me the leader ship roll since I came from Couragoes just like a lot of the others had.
"Well obviously we have to even see if Shadow's group has even gotten there first, if they have then we will figure out something, but if not then we will just have to prevent them from even getting to the building." Miles doesn't even try to intervene in the conversation, I kind of fell bad for him since the person he loves is going into the second most dangerous parts of Cartanade and he is stuck on the other side.
I do in a way understand the pain of that though since the girl I loved was from Charatis we were two opposite types of people like darkness and light. The thing about that was though nothing in my life had ever felt so perfect, she was someone who was able to pull me out of the darkness when it tried to engulf my soul. I love her with every single bone in my body even when she was taken away from me. The darkness never came back for me though, and I think it's because no I know her light would always be with me.
All of the memories tried to flood their way back in but I stopped them before I broke down in front of the two others, Blaise would have wanted me to be strong and stop Shadow, but not just to avenger her death, but to save others lives. She never did once think about herself she was always too busy worrying about making sure everyone else was okay first, and now it's my turn to do that for her.
"Hey Cade, are you okay?" Connar ask pulling me out of my mind.
"Yeah sorry..." I don't say anymore, and just continue on walking. I now fully understand Miles' silence, it isn't for himself to keep himself from breaking down, it's to stay strong for Shane since they both will need it to stay alive to see each other again.
Walking through the streets of Sereniss feels very weird to me since it is bright and calming, nothing compared to Courageos. Everyone here is just be so civilized to one another and smiling, but if only they knew what was about to possibly happen; the potential downfall of the Lagee and all of Cartanade, but they're blinded by the inability to see past their little happiness to see the reality of what is going on.
"I think we are almost there," Connar says. He is right, we start to approach a old cream colored building, with multiple columns and an open ceiling to show up to the tree top canopy above. We ascend the granite steps up to the entrance of the building and as soon as we get inside the place is breath taking with high walls with beautiful pictures of the sea, the sky, the forrest, and mountains. The open ceiling letting in the light makes the floor reflect the to every corner of the room.
"Hello boys, how may I help you?" An old man says as he slowly makes his way over to our group. He looks so frail with his small stature, glasses, and white hair. How could anyone try and take advantage of someone like him? He has no means to hurt anyone he wouldn't be able to anyway.
"Well yes actually, we would like to talk to whoever is in charge, if that is what you would like to call it."
"Why that would actually be me," the man smile brightly at us.
"Could we ask you a couple question then sir?"
"Well of course, why don't you all take a seat. Would you like anything maybe some iced or something?" The man politely ask as he motions us over to a table.
"No thank you, we would like to know if anyone has come to ask you about helping them with uh..." I try to stutter out the appropriate words to make sure no one starts to freak out.
"If you are tying to ask me if someone has come to ask from my allegiance to being down the Lage then yes, but I declined them because my city would be harmed in the process." His response made me baffled because of his sudden bluntness.
"My people can't take another change of government, and also all of the fighting involved to keep what is rightfully ours, I would fight to keep it safe but that is against what I am as a person so I said I could not help them. They did say though that they would be staying around to try and change my mind on the subject."
"Well sir, actually my friends and I are with a group of people to stop the other who are trying to overthrow the Lage and hurt your city and people, so if you have any idea where they are it would be greatly appreciated."
"You must be the wonderful children Aria has told me about with the abilities to save us all."
"Yes, yes we are."
"Well then I am more than happy to help you , the last I had heard they were in the park behind this building, good luck kids!"
"Thank you, we will make sure that your city stays right where it should be," I say as I get out of my chair and motion for the others to follow.
As we are about to exit Connars says, "Well that went a lot better than I thought it would have." Miles actually lets out a laugh, which makes me look at him with a bit of surprise since he has been dead silent this whole time.
"I know, but we can't even come close to start to celebrate now, that was only one of the demons we will have to be facing in this up coming hell."
