Casting Shadows - Kyle's Perspective

"Kyle hello back to reality please." Kate says to me impatiently.

"Sorry what?" I ask her. I can't get Elise's illusion out of my head. Ash! I need to go back to her now, but how is the problem.

"I said we need to go see Shadow now. But that can wait what were you thinking about? It wasen't her was it?" She spits the word her like it is venom in her mouth.

"No, I hate her and need to forget her. She is nothing to me anymore." I lie so easily. Truth is Ash is everything to me, but like she said I can't let Kate know that or I'm screwed.

"Good then come on we need to go." I get up off the black leather couch in the red room I have been in since Kate forced me here. We walk down the bright hallways and finally come to a room with no windows and only one door out. This isn't a very good place to be defiantly if I want to leave here.

"Please sit." A disembodied voice says. I some how find the chair in the pitch black room and do as I'm told.

"Now Kyle , I hear you have a very useful ability. Would you like to enlighten me?" The voice comes closer to me.

"Well, I don't know if it's useful but  I can feel what emotions people are having which helps tell if people are lying or loyal." I am surprised at how confident my voice sounds even though I sure don't feel like it.

"Kate, I won't you to turn on the lights for Kyle to fully trust me. I want him to see me." Shadow says. Wow, I am probably the first person ever to actually see who Shadow is.

"Sir are you..." She can't finish her sentence before Shadow yells,

"You work for me, you do as I say. Do you understand that? Now!"

"Yes Shadow." Kate mumbles as she goes over near the door and the lights blast on. My eyes hurt for a second so I shield them . Once I put my hands down I am surprised by who is standing in front of me. He looks so familiar I just can't place it. He has dark brown hair and hazel eyes. I know he wasen't in me Legion so how?

"Son you are starring."

"Huh sorry it's just... never mind." Who is this shadow person?

"Okay now I need your help with something. I have been trying to do for a very long time." He says as he pulls a chair in front of me to sit himself.

"What do I need to do exactly?"

"Well actually it's quite simple. Kyle I need you to be and insider for me. I need you to return to The Fallen and find out anything you can about her plans."

"Why would I do anything like that? Betray the people I love I would never do it." He doesn't even look surprised by my reaction to his request. Kate starts to advance over to me but he motions her back.

"So you really do love her do you?" He ask slyly.

"Ash, of course I do, and I'm not going to ruin my chances of getting her back by betraying her to spy for you."

"You are very brave to stand up to me, from all of the stuff you have probably heard about me, I am surprised you aren't afraid of me. You must have been a Couragoes. Yes?"

"Yes I was." I really don't understand why that matters to him but oh well.

"I'm surprised she would do something illegal just for love, and fall in love with someone like you."

"Well you don't know her!" I spit the words at him. He pushes me backwards off my chair and I fall to the cold hard floor.

"Of course I know her she is my daughter!" Ash's father... it's him. I knew I have seen him before, the pictures Ash showed me of her family it's him. Shadow is Ash's father!
