The blue brush goes through my belly button length, brown hair. I decide to leave it down but I still put up my side bangs with a bobby pin.
I look at the three feet mirror in front of me and just stare at my reflection. I see my deep blue eyes, with purple coming out from under them due to the past four sleepless nights. Every time I tried I kept waking up knowing that someone is coming after me and my new, what you can sorta call friends; and the reoccurring nightmare of that dreaded day over and over every time I try to close my eyes.
The dream feels so real like the sound of the gun, the feeling of the kid's thick arms around my stomach, and trying to break free to try and save my family. I was always too late. It was over. They were dead. The people I loved, now gone forever because of me. All this happening was my fault.
I hear a knock on the door then Connor says, "My goodness Ash, how long does it take to get ready? Remember we only have one bathroom to share down here like seriously you are taking even longer than Shelby."
I roll my eyes annoyed a little. I prop myself on the counter in front of the mirror, I push my hair behind my ears and yell back to him in a preppy girl voice and say, "Hold on a minute please, I need to um," what would Shelby or Sophia say, "girl time to beautify" I laugh to myself and then I hear Connor's sweet laugh come from outside. I jump off the counter and walk towards the door. I turn the handle achingly slow to irritate Connor. I open the door to see Connor with his charcoal smooth hair and his smoldering gray eyes.
"Yes?" I say this question in my voice. He pushes himself off the side of the door to now stand straight up, he is two inches taller than me. I look up at him and stare into his eyes and they stare right back into mine with this uncertain passion.
"I'm sorry about umm everything. I just really wanted to apologize and do this." He starts to lean in closer, but I push him back. I just look down feeling very awkward with him in front of me now.
"Connor, what the hell was that?!" I ask rushed to say something so he doesn't try again.
"I just," he started to protest/answer, but Kyle yells,
"Hey, Ash, Connor where are you guys? Breakfast is ready!" I hear his light footsteps cascade down the light brown hallway to the bathroom with Connor and I so close I can see the violet come out in his eyes. No doubt I think Connor's eyes are amazingly charming every time I see him I can't help but stare.
"There you two," Kyle starts but stops right as soon as he sees how close Connor and I are, our bodies almost touching each other. I look up to look at Kyle dead in the eyes.
"Um, what's going on around here you two?" Kyle asks.
I look at him and say strongly and confidently, "Trust me it was and is absolutely nothing at all." I push through Connor and then pass by Kyle. I look over my shoulder back to the bathroom and see Kyle push Connor against the wall, yell at him. I wish could hear him, then I see Connor not just stand there and take it he pushes Kyle back then yell right back also. Damn, that looks like a bad thing to get in the middle of. I keep watching the fight till bam I walk into something in the middle of the hallway. I turn my head around to find Miles there.
"I'm sorry Miles I wasn't paying attention."
"It's okay I guess I will let it slide just this time." I smile Miles looks over my shoulder looking curiously, the fight must still be going on, great.
"What's going on with those two lately?"
I sigh, "Trust me I don't know, and I probably really don't want to."
Miles focuses back on me and his green eyes that have neon yellow jolting through them meet mine I look up quickly into his surprisingly better kept brown messy hair (In a good way this time).
