Well I wanted to dedicate this chapter to my brother who is now at basic training for the army. He won't be able to see this till November but it's the thought that counts so yeah! Read on!

I hear a sudden knocking on my door, I'm to tired to answer so I stay laying in my bed. My door opens anyway and I hear foot steeps coming to my bed and then it sink like someone is sitting on it. I try to steady my breathing pattern but my heart is beating faster and faster with every second that passes I swear I can almost hear it beating out of my chest. I don't exactly know why I am scared it is probably just someone checking in on me since this mornings whole ordeal.

"Hon you were never good at pretending you were a sleep at home and your not good at it now." My mother's voice says to me. I grunt and slowly open my eyes. I never did realize my mother and I looked so much like alike. Her wavy brown hair cascading past her shoulders, her olive skin tone, and her bright blue eyes.

"Good to see you too. I heard part of what happened this morning would you like to explain?" I sit up and cross my legs to look at her better.

"Well let me see... Kyle got forced into leaving by some girl named Kate who works Shadow and then Caleb found a note from him and pretty much blamed me so Caleb punched me and I wanted to take a nap so I did . Nothing I couldn't handle on my own since I've been doing so well on my own lately, so don't worry you can go back to your comfy office and sit behind your desk." I get up off the bed and go to my closet and pretend to be looking through it.

"I understand you are still mad at me Ash, but I need you to understand why I didn't do certain things." I turn around and she looks hurt.

"Then start explaining." I can't just break, she hurt me and I'm not just going to cave and forgive her just yet.

"Hon, you need to sit. This is a very long story.... please." I set down the stuff that I was cleaning of the cabinets and sit back down on the bed, I try not to look in her eyes, it would surely break me.

"Well, Shadow's group and The Fallen have been around way before you were even thought about being born. Then I was still the leader of The Fallen, but I was only your age. Thing is Shadow wasen't always bad and a killer, before we actually worked together to better are people. We found other people like us who have are abilities and help them both use them and progress."

"Wait, stop, you worked with Shadow! That means you know who he is right?" I ask quickly. She bows her head like she is ashamed of something. I just stare at her and wait for an answer.

"Yes, I do..." She says it very quietly.

"Then who is it! Do I know them? I mean..." She stops me in the middle of my sentence.

"I don't think you're ready to know." She can't do this to me again, keep things from me.

"You can't leave me out thing if you want my forgiveness." I say full of confidence to make sure she gets the point that I'm not messing around anymore.

"Ash..."

"No mom! I need to know no matter what, you can't keep holding out on me!" I shout could it really be that bad?

"Ash, Shadow... Shadow is... Shadow is your father." Everything goes in slow motion. My mom keeps trying to talk but it sounds like I'm under water. The reality of what she said is terrifying, I just can't believe it my own father. It's impossible, isn't it? I just can't be true. He can't be the person who killed Ian's sister Elena, or even James. He killed his own son! My words won't form out of my mouth. Anger starts to over power all of my logic. I get up off of the bed and shove everything off my dresser then throw a glass cup and let it fly into the wall and shatter into a million pieces like my heart. I scream out! This just can't be happening. Why did this have to happen to me out of all people? I am about to throw something else but my mother grabs me in her arms and I drop the other glass out of my hand. She shushes me while smoothing down my hair.
