“It’s hard to answer the question ‘what’s wrong’ when nothings right”

Audrey’s POV

“Finally” I sigh as I wrap my arms around my best friend Zoe, thanking god that we’re out of this hellhole we call school.

“I know honey bear” She smiles and lets me out of her grasp

“Let’s go home, I think my parents are out anyways” I laugh slightly

“Yes! Maybe we can finally get ahold of the alcohol shelf” She raises her eyebrow at me

“Maybe...” I trail off and head to my car

*Later*

I can already hear my parents screaming from down the block. This isn’t a good sign. I pull my red volkswagen beetle into the driveway, next to my parents broken down honda civic. Zoe opens door and lets out a nervous breath

“Should I go? Maybe I shouldn’t stay over tonight...” She trails off ‘

“No, don’t! I need you here!” I pout and stick my lip out

She eyes me angrily “Fine” She huffs

I jump out of the car and head inside, pushing Zoe up the stairs as my parents continue throwing objects around in the kitchen.

“I can’t believe you!” My mother yells

“What? I’m not the one that let our daughter whore around and mess up her life!” He screams back

I silently open the kitchen door and walk in, both of them looking directly at me

“What’d I do?” I ask innocently

“What’s this?” They hold up the latest issue of Cosmopolitan, where it has a very detailed sex heading right on the front

“It’s not what it looks like... I just was using it to get makeup tips because I’ve been feeling a little down lately...”

“Bullshit!” My father yells, his hands banging down on the kitchen counter. My mother just glares at me

“I can’t believe we are parents to such a slut” My mother adds

I push back a little, taking all of it in. “Excuse me?” I question

“You are such a disgrace. You disgust me” My father gags

I bite my lip, keeping in all of the sobs that want to pour out of my eyes

“You know what. I’m so done with both of you. I’m fucking sick of this” I turn on my heel, pushing the kitchen door open, smacking it against the wall with a loud thud

“Oh yeah?! Where are you going to go huh?” They start walking after me

“None of your buisness!” I scream, stomping up the stairs and slamming my door shut, locking it and leaning against it for a second

“You okay?” Zoe asks

“Not really,” I sigh and walk over to my closet door, pulling out all clothes and grabbing my suitcases from the top shelf

“Where are you going? What are you doing?” Zoe questions as I keep putting all of my stuff in the bags, opening and closing drawers

“I feel like leaving. Would you come with me?” I turn around, giving her a look she couldn’t refuse even if she tried

“Sure. But where?” She looks at me

“London” I huff and turn back around

“London? Why there?” She wonders

I turn and point to my One Direction poster hanging over my bed. “They live there. Maybe that’s my chance. The change I need”

“I mean, I know you love Harry Styles, but I didn’t think you’d move there for him” Zoe puts her arms on her sides

“I know you have a crush on Louis” She looks up and me and smiles that smile that she always gets when she loves something

“I thought so” I run and turn into my bathroom and get my makeup and other things out

“But you’re really going to leave your family?” Zoe says worriedly

“It really looks like they care” I say sarcastically as I zip my suitcases shut and pile them by the door

She just looks at me as I open the door and I peek out looking for my parents

“Not here anymore” I shrug and cling my bags closer to me as we walk slowly down the stairs and out of the house. I put the bags in the trunk and I shut it quietly. I get in and shut the door, looking at her

“So, we’ll go to your house and you can pack your stuff up. Yeah?” I question as I pull my car out of the driveway

“Sure” She smiles, but I know she’s not saying something

We pull up at her house and she opens the passenger door of the car. “Okay” She says and starts to walk up her driveway, into the door and closing it

I get a text message:

Don’t you dare think about coming back home. You don’t need us anymore, we don’t give a shit. Apparently you don’t either

I throw my phone onto the ground. Looks like i’m going to need a new one.

“Ready” Zoe comes out and smiles

“Your family okay?” I ask

“Yeah, I just told them I’m going on an end of the year trip. They’re so dumb they won’t even notice me being gone for so long. With my sister’s baby on the way and my brother’s graduating middle school, they won’t care”

I look at her “I’m sorry”

“It’s fine, just drive” She adds and looks out the window

“Okay” I say and drive to the airport, waiting for a new start
