CHAPTER EIGHT

Roslindale River High School was a stereotypical high school, located on the outskirts of all the suburban homes in Riverblossom.  It contained a very sturdy football team by the name of; The Rhinos and also, a very hyper cheerleading team that Lexi was glad she had never been part of.  Katya, on the other hand, was the head of cheerleading, even though she was only a sophomore.

Lexi pulled into the parking lot at R.R High School and made her way up the four wide set of stone stairs and through the glass doors that welcomed the students to a hall of lockers and classrooms.  A throng of students were already conversing beside their lockers, or getting a drink from the water fountain outside the Admissions & Headmaster's office.

She made her way over to her locker that was found outside a Biology Laboratory and entered its code, pulling the red aluminium door open and taking off her beige cotton scarf and black leather jacket, stuffing them inside and pulling out her English Literature books, glad that she was starting off the day with her favorite class.

"Welcome back, Ms.  Whitmore.  I hope you had a great winter break," Mrs.  Tanner, the English Teacher glided by with a tight smile.  She had a large liking for Lexi, because she was one of the best students due to her unknown skill of writing poetry and short stories.

Lexi waved placidly, thinking about how her winter break wasn't great.

"Hello, hello, hello," Katya strolled by, her white blonde hair falling down her back and shoulders, decorated nicely with a red hearted hair clip.  She looked cute in a denim jacket, lilac blouse and blue skinny jeans and her Swedish brown vintage backpack hung off her shoulder, carelessly.

"Hi Katya," Lexi murmured, scoping the halls for any sign of him.  "What class have you got first?"

"Calculus," she replied, watching Lexi's gaze.  "What's wrong?  You seem restless."

Lexi groaned and shrugged, tightening her grip on her Juicy Couture tote bag.

"Is it your parents?" Her blonde eyebrows knitted together in concern and Lexi shook her head.

"No, it's not them.  Well, they could be a little nicer to me, but it's Ryan.  I haven't seen him or spoken to him since that night on Christmas Eve and it's going to be so awkward.  Plus, I don't know what I'd do or say about the fact that his parent's told mine before I could," Lexi blabbered, nervously.

Katya sighed.  "Don't worry.  It'll be fine!  Just let him know that you weren't happy with his parent's telling yours.  And try and discuss this more firmly."

Lexi nodded.  "Right.  Anyway, I have home room.  I'll catch you at lunch."

Katya frowned and waved, sadly and Lexi walked by her and towards her English Lit class where her form tutor was already inside, gathering a few papers.  She was also the Biology teacher, but she acted as Lexi's class councillor as well.

"Um, hi Ms. Delaney," Lexi mumbled as she stepped into the empty-except-for-one-person classroom.

Ms.  Delaney looked up, her almond coloured eyes registering Lexi's face and she simpered.

"Oh, hi Alexia.  How was your winter holiday?" She asked, politely.

"It was alright.  Could have been better," Lexi replied truthfully, taking a seat at the front of the class where she always loved to sit for English.

"How so?"

Lexi frowned.  "A lot of drama!"

Ms.  Delaney cocked her head to the side, and her light brown hair fell over her shoulder.
