CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

Lexi thought that it was best not to mention her idea of writing a memoir for Alaska, to Ashton.  She didn't want him to continue dwelling on her and continuously feel upset.

On her way out of school, she grabbed a form from the reception and filled in the necessary details to apply for the competition, and then she made her way to the elevators with Violet and Ariel at her tail after handing it in.  She was eager to get home and begin writing.

"What are you writing about?" Violet questioned curiously as they stepped inside the lift.  Lexi had tried her best to shield the details on the form from her two friends.  She wanted to keep it all as a surprise and exclusive secret.

"It's a memoir about this girl I read about," Lexi said, placidly.

"That's random," Ariel said, with raised eyebrows as she clutched onto her backpack.

Lexi nodded absent-mindedly and nonchalantly bid her friends farewell.

"See you tomorrow!" Violet called as Lexi paced through the doors of Morgan Term College and towards the parking lot.

As soon as she bounded through the doors of Angel's home, she quickly made herself a peanut butter sandwich and climbed the stairs in anticipation.  She ate thoughtfully whilst she started up her laptop and then changed into a comfortable pair of pajamas that made her belly feel a lot more free and less constricted.

Finally, she plopped down on her soft and squishy bed, her laptop propped up on her crossed legs and she opened up a Word Document, stretching her fingers in preparation to start writing.

ALASKA WATERS:  LOVING LIFE

She paused after typing the header, her fingers hovering over the keyboard.  She searched her mind for the appropriate words to begin her inspirational memoir with- but nothing came to mind.  She chewed her lip, lost in deep thought and then shook her head.  Nothing was coming to her.  Her brain was one big blank.

"Ugh," she groaned, flopping down into her pillows.  "What am I going to do?!"

She was unfortunately distracted by a sudden set of kicks that issued from inside her belly and she sighed and rubbed it, maternally.

"Is this you trying to tell me that I picked a wrong thing to write about?" Lexi mumbled to her unborn daughter.  Kick, kick, flump, kick.  It was as she was rubbing her stomach, thinking about calling Ashton when she realized something.  Her heart jolted as though she had just missed a step and a hard wave of depression overwhelmed her.  What did she really know about Alaska Waters, other than the fact that she had cancer, was involved with Ashton and started a cancer campaign?  She knew less than anyone else.  How was she supposed to write something pristine and perfect if she knew nothing about what she was writing on?

With a disgruntled groan, she closed her laptop screen with a snap and stood up to stretch, hearing the front door closing downstairs, indicating that Angel was home.

She decided that it was better to assist Angel with dinner, rather than sitting in her room procrastinating and failing to write something useful.

Angel was hovering in the kitchen, packing away bags of groceries into their rightful places and Meagen was sitting on the kitchen table chewing a Twizzler, jovially.

"Hey," Lexi said as she padded into the room.

"Oh, hi!" Angel replied, cheerfully as she packed away a box of cereal.

"Need any help with dinner?" Lexi questioned politely, snatching a Twizzler from the packet and biting into it.

Angel's face lit up and she nodded her head, gratefully.
