CHAPTER FOUR
"Alexia!" Angel gasped. "Are you serious? How do you know?"
Lexi sighed and shook her head. "I took a pregnancy test last week," she replied, in a small voice.
Angel paced around the bathroom for a few minutes before kneeling down in front of her sister and getting her to look her in the eyes.
"Do Mom and Dad know?" She asked and Lexi shook her head.
Angel repeatedly looked around and opened her mouth as though she was going to say something, but then closed it again.
"I didn't know who else to tell," Lexi mumbled. "I told Katya and she told me to tell you, since we're so close. I can't tell Mom or Dad. They'll go nuts."
Angel closed her eyes and ran a hand through her brown hair, then opened them again and gave Lexi a serious look.
"How far along are you? And who's the father? Do you have a boyfriend?" Her questions piled up, one after the other as she blabbered.
"I think I'm about six weeks along and the father is this guy in senior year at school. It wasn't meant to happen. It was a dare!" Lexi said.
Angel snorted. "A dare to have sex? Come on Lexi, I thought you were better than that!"
Lexi sighed. She hated being a disappointment, especially to her favorite sister. "Me too. But I liked him, a lot. And we met at this party and it just happened. I didn't want to seem like a loser in front of him, so I did it."
"You're not a loser!" Angel said. "Don't ever feel pressured into doing something you don't want to do, because things like this happen. You're pregnant, Lexi. You are going to have a baby at sixteen!"
"Don't you think I know that?" Lexi snapped and Angel flinched. "I've been carrying this burden for almost ten days now. I know I'm having a baby. I'm having a very rough time dealing with it. I'm not even sure I wanna go through with this pregnancy."
Angel widened her eyes and she hesitated for a moment, her mouth wide open.
"You mean... You're thinking of getting an abortion?"
Lexi shrugged and wiped her eyes. "I don't know what I want to do, Angel. All I know is that I'm pregnant and there's no way I can tell our parent's. And I don't want to be a teenage mother."
Angel exhaled and took a deep breath. "Okay, well there are other alternatives to this. Regardless of our parent's reaction, you know this family is against abortion."
"Since when are you siding with this family, Angel?! You left to get away from all the perfection!" Lexi cried.
"I know I did, Lexi. But I can't help but agree with the situation. You are pregnant and you are only sixteen years old. This isn't a rape case. This is yours and the father's responsibility and you need to act on it and not just push this sticky situation away from you, pretending like it never happened," Angel explained. "You're my sister, and I love you so much. And I will support you whether you are pregnant, or not. Let me help you!"
Lexi sniffled and shook her head. "I don't deserve any help, Angel. I did this. It's my fault. You're right."
The look on Angel's face was pure pity as Lexi broke into a fit of sobs. She engulfed her in a hug on the bathroom floor and they sat there for what seemed like hours, before there was a knock at the door and they both sprang up, quickly.
"Babe, are you in there?" Came the voice of Angel's husband, Anthony.
"Yeah, give me a minute," she called back. She offered Lexi a tissue who took it, gratefully.
