CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Ten weeks...

Lexi went through the rest of the week at her new school with Ashton in her mind.  She had to control every inch of herself not to ask Violet about her brother and praying that he would show up at the college to speak to Violet again, but there was no sign of him.

She figured she was being downright stupid at the fact that she was desperate enough to be crushing on someone she didn't even know, but she couldn't help herself.  His ignorance and absence was bliss.

Katya and Lexi texted back and forth throughout her days at school and Katya expressed her sadness at Lexi's departure, whilst Lexi gloated about Ashton and questioned her best friend for advice on controlling her thoughts.

Focus on your work and baby, Lex.  If you and Ashton are meant to be, then you'll be!

Lexi took this advice whole-heartedly and set her mind on her homework and reading coursework which she busied herself with, whilst focusing on the right food to supply her growing baby with.

On Sunday afternoon as Lexi sat in her heated comfortable bedroom, she turned the last page of Wuthering Heights and sighed in disappointment.  She had just finished reading all her coursework for the first term and all that was left, were the papers that were due a little before Spring Break.

"Hey," Angel stepped into the room carrying a basket of messed up laundry.  "Here's your laundry.  I'll leave the folding to you, if you don't mind."

"Sure," Lexi smiled.  She was sitting in her spongy arm chair in the corner of the room that served as a perfect nook for reading.

"You've been here all weekend, Lex.  Are you feeling alright?" Angel asked, as she glanced at the pile of finished books that sat on the left bedside table.

"Oh, I'm fine.  I just wanna get my coursework for Spring Break out of the way," Lexi replied with a determined expression on her face.

"Spring Break isn't for another two months, though," Angel said, with raised eyebrows.

Lexi shrugged.  "I just want it out of the way."

"Why don't you meet up with a few of those girls at your school?  Go for Sunday dinner or something," Angel suggested, hopefully.

Lexi scowled.  It was then that she felt like a complete recluse.  She hadn't left the house since coming home from school on Friday afternoon and hadn't left her room since Saturday morning.  It was clear that Angel was concerned.

"Oh, yeah.  Good idea, Angel.  I'll call them now," Lexi smirked, reaching for her iPhone from the bureau.

Angel winked and shuffled out of the room.  Lexi dialed Violet's number and waited, stifling a sigh.  She was always asking Violet and Ariel for certain things and always felt like an annoyance.

"Hello?" Instead of Violet's bubbly girly voice, a male voice was heard from the other end.

Lexi's eyebrows furrowed and she checked to see if she had made the right call.  Upon confirming, she brought it back to her ear and muttered, "Violet?" uncertainly.

The boy laughed and Lexi's heart halted.  It was Ashton.

"Um, Ashton?" Lexi asked.

"Ditto, valley girl," he said from the other end in his teasing sensual voice.

"Right," Lexi mumbled, sheepishly.  She gulped and searched her mind for something to say, but the surprise and climax of finally hearing him was too overwhelming for words to be formulated into speech.
