CHAPTER FORTY-ONE
On a Wednesday afternoon, a few days after Lexi's brilliant surprise birthday party, she sat on a sunbed on her backyard, with her right foot dipped low into her rocklined pool whilst reading from a book Katya had gotten her for her birthday, titled; Caring for your newborn.
Ashton was out looking for a part-time job somewhere in Riverblossom and Patricia and Bill were at the Country Club for the day so Lexi was left at home with Ann. She was more than happy with how her life was turning out. After her surprise party which had turned into a great success, she felt like she was completely ready to have her daughter. Katya was more than supportive of her moving to Washington, Ryan and her were no longer at odd ends and her entire school year were warm and kind with her. All she needed now was labour to start... Whenever that was.
"Alexia sweetie," Ann popped her head through the glass door which was slightly ajar. "A letter for you just arrived in the post."
Lexi peered over her RayBan aviators and outstretched her hand to catch the envelope that Ann tossed her.
"Thank you," she muttered, placidly whilst scanning the wax stamp that was etched into the back of the envelope. It was a school emblem with a bold WSU imprinted clearly on it. With wide and hopeful eyes, she tore the envelope open and caught the three sheets of paper that fell on her round belly. Carefully, she flattened them out on her knees and began reading.

It was still unbelievable. Lexi had to read it three times over to finally accept that she was a college student and was going to move to school for good, this time. It wasn't a mere course that she was doing a few hours away. This was a college where she was going to be spending years learning and sitting for exams. It was her official future. She was alone from here on out...
