CHAPTER FIVE

Bianca's little red Mini Cooper was packed to the brim with tons of shopping bags.  Most of them were hers, anyway and Angel and Lexi only filled a single shopping bag with their gifts.

When they reached the Whitmore Residence once again, the family gathered in the living room and spent their recreational time watching a cheesy Christmas Movie, pretending to be the most typical and perfect family in all of Riverblossom.

Lexi kept close to Angel, Meagen and Anthony as the whole family peered at the many inched plasma screen TV that played Love Actually.  Pat and Bianca cried on the sidelines and Bianca bragged to her bulky blue eyed fiance, Wesley that they were going to be a happy married couple like Emma and Alan.

When the film was over, they all broke into intense conversation on what was going to happen the following evening on Christmas Eve.

"There's a gala Christmas Dinner at the local Country Club," Bill Whitmore exclaimed.  He hadn't bothered to watch the film and instead, he sat on the leather couch with his iPad and worked, most of the time.

"Oh, that would be perfect!" Bianca shrieked.  "I can't wait to go to the Country Club as a family.  We'll be looked up to, so much!"

Angel and Lexi glanced at each other and rolled eyes.

Pat simpered, "I agree.  I love going to local events where everyone can gawp at us in jealousy."

"Do we have to go?" Lexi questioned and they all looked at her, giving her the worst stink eye possible.

"Of course we have to go, Alexia.  What do you think?  The Country Club's going to have a Christmas Dinner without the Whitmore's?"

Lexi groaned.  "Whatever," she said, getting up and leaving the living room to get to her room.  She didn't want to spend much time with her family.  She couldn't help but feel like everyone could see it on her face, that she was pregnant.  Every minute with her family was another possible minute of them looking at her and thinking, "Hey!  You look pregnant!"

**

Despite Lexi's strong wishes of not wanting to go to the Country Club for Christmas Eve Dinner, the following night, the family began getting ready at two PM, the next day.

Pat blow dried and curled her long dirty blonde salon silk hair, and dressed up in her expensive squared dress and string of pearls.  Bill put on his smartest suit.  Bianca showed off her gorgeous body in a strapless silver sequined cocktail dress and Wesley mimicked Bill in his smartest suit.  Even Shawn was wearing one of Bill's old suits.

Lexi stared at herself in the mirror, inhaling and exhaling.  She was wearing a cute red t-shirt dress with gold sequins on the shoulders and a pair of flat Kate Spade pumps and her long auburn hair was blow dried and straightened to the side, showing off her dangling diamond ear rings that she had gotten from her favorite Grandmother.  Her face was shining in makeup and accentuated her bright blue eyes and long eyelashes.  She turned to the side, inspecting the side view of her belly in the mirror.  There was no bump visible yet.  After all, she was still only six weeks along.

To this very day, she still couldn't believe that she was carrying a baby inside her.  Her own son or daughter and she sighed at the thought of her parent's when they eventually found out.  What would they say?  Would they be so heartless as to kick her out of her own house because she'd been a massive disgrace and chink in the perfection of the family of Whitmore?

She was about to sit down in a large ball room of people that admired and looked up to and envied the Whitmore family and she knew that her parent's first thoughts on her pregnancy would be that the people would look at them differently, and that's what scared her the most.
