CHAPTER TEN

The six hour drive to Ohio was a lot more tiring than Lexi had expected it to be.  After a heart-warming goodbye with a touch of perfection from the Whitmore family, Lexi set off at nine in the morning in her suitcase-packed beetle and drove off.

The snow in the state of Ohio was a lot thinner and milder, Lexi realized, as she found herself in the valleys on the outskirts of the city, at 3:14.  She breathed in the cool air from her window, and inhaled the scent of iced lakes and fresh grass.

She was wrapped in a simple pair of Juicy navy sweats and a thick woolen scarf round her neck.  Her bronze hair was tied up into a knotted bun and her face was stripped of any makeup.  Circles had appeared under her blue eyes, by the time she reached her sister's house.

Angel and Anthony lived on the rim of the city, in a suburban neighbourhood called Cornwood.  Mr.  and Mrs.  Whitmore hadn't accepted their daughter living in a dingy apartment in the city, so they went forth and bought them a gorgeous stone manor in the richest street in Cornwood.

The stone exterior of the house was a shade of maroon bricks and the roof was a dark black color, that was mainly covered by the white drops of snow that had settled atop the roof like a blanket.  It contained many glass windows on the upstairs and downstairs sections and it had a beautiful spacious green lawn on the outside of the large house.  It was a typical American Dream styled home.

Lexi pulled into the white frosty drive-in, behind Anthony and Angel's Lexus 4WD and honked the horn, excitedly.  She couldn't believe that she was in Ohio, ready to move in with her favorite sibling.

The glass front door opened and Angel appeared at the front, wearing a floral printed button down blouse and denim jeans.  She was carrying Meagen in her arms, who had a large grin on her face.

"Lexi, Lexi!" Meagen called in her familiar girly dialect.

Lexi beamed and hurried with her bags.  Anthony jogged out, a grey beanie settled on his dark haired head.  He helped Lexi with a suitcase and duffel bag and rolled them out towards the entrance of the house, with Lexi at his tail.

"Welcome Home, sis!" Angel chirped, giving Lexi a one armed hug.

"Hi!" Lexi cackled, plopping a kiss down on Meagen's smooth red cheek and stepping inside the parquet floored entrance hall that was decorated immensely with portraits of landscapes and different country settings.  Anthony was a painter that took pride in his work.

"How was the drive, you must be exhausted!" Angel said, handing Meagen to Anthony who inclined his head and grinned at Lexi, his almond coloured eyes squinting slightly.

"It was long, but the determination to see you guys kept me going," Lexi babbled, stretching her arms.

Angel laughed.  "Awh.  We're happy to have you here, Lex.  We both took days off to take you out for dinner to see Ohio tonight."

Lexi's cheeks flushed.  "Guys, you don't have to do that!"

"We insist, Alexia!" Anthony pressed in, his deep voice penetrating the walls of the still house.

"It's already enough that you let me into your home," Lexi gushed.

"Nonsense, it's great to have you here.  I booked your appointment with Dr.  Pinchfield for tomorrow afternoon after your first visit to the school, by the way," Angel said.

Lexi inclined her head in thanks.

"Why don't you go on up and get yourself cleaned up?  I'll bring up a sandwich and you can have a rest," Angel suggested.  "Anthony'll help you with your bags."
