Mitch's POV
At lunch lachlan asks if I want to sit with him and his group of friends. I say yes even though I don't really want to. I have no where else to go. No one has been this kind to me in a long time. It could just be a trick. Yeah that's probably what it is. He leads me into the packed cafeteria, full of hungry students trying to get their food. I feel uncomfortable being in a room with this many people. But I'm going to have to get used to it.
He leads me over to a table full of boys and a couple of girls. All the people from our band group are here, which is alright I guess. He sits down next to Vikk so I sit down on the other side of him. Thank god it's on the edge. Everyone at the table stops what they are doing and look to me, making me cower in my seat. Lachlan can sense I'm uncomfortable and speaks up.
"Guys this is Mitch. He's new so can you please be nice and introduce yourselves?" Lachlan asks sarcastically. The new people I have no idea who they are start introducing themselves.
"Hi, I'm Adam!" A hyperactive teenage boy says. He has curly black hair and a wide grin on his face. He sits across from me, next to Alesa, who he kisses on the temple. Aww, that's cute. I wave my hand lowly, a little scared of this guy.
"Hey, my names Preston." A clearly Texas guy says, waving. I smile a little. He is sitting next to Alesa.
"Sup BRUH, I'm rob." Says the boy sitting next to Preston.
"Hey dude, I'm ryan." A rather tall guy says.
I laugh a little. I don't know why. It nice to finally have some friends I guess. They continue to list themselves off. In all there are; Adam, Alesa, Preston, Rob, Matt, Ryan, Jess, Vikk and Lachlan. They seem like a pretty nice group. Heh, that's what I thought when I met my old friends too, but they all ended turning their backs on me. I can't trust these people. I just can't let anything like that happen ever again. I'm already shattered, there is no point in crushing me any further.
Everyone starts talking amongst themselves while I just sit their awkwardly. They are all eating, accept for me. Like I said before, I don't eat unless I have to. Then after eating whatever, I usually throw it up. I'm anorexic, I'm depressed, I have nightmare disorder, I have anxiety, I'm a loner. Everything's not in my favour, is it? I'm such a screw up. Oh how I wish I could grab my blade that is sitting in my pocket and scar my impurities again. I long for the feeling of a blade ripping through my pale flesh, creating a pain that brings me a sense of content.
"You gonna eat Mitch?" Adam asks in front of me. The conversation of the table turns to me. I shake my head and look down. "I'm not hungry." I lie, looking up. Adam gives me a concerned look before taking another bite of his food.
"So Mitch, how'd you get into this school?" Preston asks, raising an eyebrow. I shrug. "Music." I state simply. I don't really know what to say when people ask me that. "Not just music! You can play the piano better then anyone I have ever seen! And you wrote that song by yourself! You like have super natural powers or something!" Alesa says, flailing her arms around to exaggerate her point. I flush with embarrassment.
"I'm not that good." I state, a looking down at my hands again. "Bullshit! Your amazing! Your defiantly going to make it into the honour band with that talent." Lachlan says from beside me, patting me on the back. I smile a little. Joining a band sounds like fun. "Welcome to the performing arts group." Ryan says. My eyes furrow in confusion, causing everyone to laugh. "We all came here because of something from that league. Rob and I are drama students Adam is part of the choir and Ryan is a tap dancer." Preston says. I nod my head.
Lachlan turns around and points to something behind us. "See over there?" He says, I turn around to see where he is pointing. A bunch of snot nose girls sit there in their prissy make up and fake tans. "They are the popular girls. The next people are the nerds. Then the fangirls, steer clear of them, they are all fucking nuts." He whispers, making me giggle softly. The fangirls are dressed up in clothes of their fandoms. Haha.
"There are the goths and Emos, can't really tell who's what. There are the genuinely nice people. And they're ...the jocks." He quietly. The jocks are all in red sweaters and jeans. They are all laughing about and having a good time. Then, one guy stands up on the seat and starts telling a really shit joke. And. Omg, he is the hottest person I have ever seen in my life. His is quite tall and muscular. He has dark brown hair and a smile that could make anyone down, happy. I continue to stare at him along with Lachlan.
"I recommend staying away from them. They beat people like us up for no reason. And since your the new kid, your going to be their target." He says. I shudder a little and frown. I thought this school would be different, but of course not.
"Who is that?" I ask, pointing to the pretty boy. Lachlan scoffs. "That's Jerome Aceti. He is the captain of the football team and the quarterback. He is the most popular guy in the school and gets all the chicks. Total prick if you ask me. If you ever become friends with him, then the guys will have some issues with you." He answers and then turns back around.
I continue to stare at the very hot man. He smiles and laughs. Oh my, his laugh is like music to my ears. It's more beautiful then anything I have ever played on the piano. I blush at the thought. Ha Mitch, who would scoop low enough to go out with you? No one wants you, you fucking disappointment. I turn around after a moment of watching this boy. I'm gay and I've known that for a while now. That's another reason why I cut. My dad says being gay is a sin.
"So where are you from?" Rob asks after a moment of silence. I sigh, I really shouldn't be telling people this.
"I'm from Canada. I submitted one of my piano songs to this school and got accepted in surprisingly. So dad and I moved to a house that's not far from here." I say, grabbing out my phone from my bag and checking for text messages. I don't have a social life or any friends for that matter, so of course I have no texts.
"What about your mom?" Matt asks bluntly, no emotion on his face. Alesa instantly slaps and scolds him. My face instantly drops. I drop the phone in the table and look down at the plain steel table. My blood boils. How dare he! What is this guys problem?
"She's dead, along with my brother and sister." I say, gritting my teeth. Tears swell into my eyes, some drift out of them and onto the table. The table is stunned into silence. Whimpers escape my throat. I try so hard to hold it in, but I can't. I stand and grab my phone and shove it in pocket. I grab my bag and walk away without another word, tears leaking down my face. Lachlan calls out to me, but ignore him and run to the bathrooms. I lock myself in one of the stalls and rest against the wall of the cubical.
I grab the black box out of my pocket and open it. The blade sits in the bottom, waiting for me to take it. I grab it and stand over the toilet. I pull my right sleeve up and press down on my skin with the shinning blade. I bite my lip to keep myself quiet. I'm such a fuck up. I can't fucking talk to anyone without it ending up in tears or a panic attack. My old bullies were right. They've been right all along.
I slide the blade along my wrist again, and again, and again. Someone starts calling out my name. I know it's Lachlan, so I ignore him. "Mitch! Come on, open up." He demands, rattling my door. I don't answer and rather slice more at my arm. The blood trails down to my hand and falls into the toilet, some of it hitting the edge. Tears rattle down my face, but not one cry escapes my throat. A whimper escapes as I create a very deep cut.
"You better not be doing what I think your doing." He says warily, probably hearing the whimpers. I don't reply once again, but put the blade back. I grab some toilet paper and hold it to my cuts. I probably did around 12. When the bleeding stops, I flush the toilet and pull down my sleeves. I sling my bag over my shoulder and open up the door. Lachlan stands there with a worried look on his face. It looks like he is about to say something but I ignore him and walk out of the room to next period.
