Star's POV
Marco left really early so I had the house for myself. Kinda.
Mr and Mrs Diaz were still in bed. They love sleeping in lately. I got up and went to the kitchen. I missed Marco's breakfast today... even if it was awkward... It was still delicious.
I figured I can't mope around all day. I have to get over it now. He's happy with Jackie. So why can't I be happy?
Suddenly the brightest idea struck me like a lightning bolt. I'm going to throw a party. And everyone is invited.
I grabbed my phone and quickly sent a message to Justin, telling him to spread the word of my party. Of course he was more than happy to help. If there's a party, it's guaranteed that he'd be there too.
My plan is finally working for once. Now to get rid of Mr and Mrs Diaz...I slipped to the garage and quickly got the old radio Marco told me about. It was his grandfather's radio he got as a present for his 13th birthday. I know it's dishonest to use it but for now I don't care.
Oh, how did I get rid of the Diaz's? I simply told them to go out and not come back until after midnight, that they deserved a day together. They were more than happy to do it.
Take that depression.
Marco's POV
I ignored the lump in my throat as the time passed on. Jackie was an hour late... an entire hour! Maybe she got busy... she'll be here. I looked at the picnic basket next to me. I was getting pretty hungry.
--two hours pass--
I started to worry now. Three hours. Who does that?! I sighed and closed my eyes, resting my head in my hands. Star was right. Jackie doesn't really like me.
An old lady walked past me. She noticed my sulking. " What's wrong young man? " She asked with a caring voice. "My date is three hours late ma'am." I said and looked at her. "Three hours? My boy, if I were you I'd go home. I don't think she's going to show up." She said and sat down next to me. "But... she wouldn't do something like this! She said she liked me." I said and looked at rhe old lady. "You're too trusting." She said and put a hand on my shoulder. "Let me tell you about love." She said and fiddled with her handbag. Here comes the preach of a lifetime.Star's POV
The party was in full swing now. Everyone was here and the music was blasting from the radio.
"Amazing party you got here, Star!" Justin said. "Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it!" I said back. "Come on! Everyone is going to pay truth or dare!" He said and pulled me to the group.
Marco told me to stay away from these games, but Marco isn't here now...We played the game for a long time but we decided to stop when Janna dared Oskar to take off his shirt.
After some time, people started leaving, but some of us - looking at Justin - have endless energy and continued dancing.
"YO Star, come join me!" He invited me over. I ran there and a crowd formed around us chanting that we should have a dance off.-more time passes-
Everyone was getting tired and more people started leaving.
As soon as the last guests left. Marco walked in. Clearly unimpressed.
Marco's POV
"What the heck is going on here?!" I snapped. Star smiled. "Just having a little party, that's all." I think I blew a gasket in my brain. "I give up." I huffed and walked straight to my room.
Today is not my day. First I get ditched by Jackie, then an old lady tells me about love and then I get home and see a huge party. The world hates me... I put on my pyjamas and got in bed. I hid my face in my pillow and the tears started flowing. I was past breaking point.Star's POV
I went to Marco's room after a while and I peeked inside. I heard a few muffled sobs. It broke my heart. "Marco?" I asked and knocked on his door. He didn't look up. I went inside and sat next to him. "Marco what's wrong?" I asked and rubbed circles on his back. He sat upright and looked at me with tears in his eyes. "Star, am I a bad person?" He asked me and I could see how serious he was. I frowned. "No of course not, why would you say that?" I asked and wiped away a few of his tears. "Jackie... she..." he started tearing up. I pulled him into a hug. "What did Jackie do?" I asked as he cried into my shoulder. "She ditched me." he confessed and hugged me tight.
I felt the anger inside me burn up. "She did WHAT?!" I asked with quite a temper. "She didnt bother to show up for our date... I sat there like a fool waiting for her." He said and pulled away from the hug. "Don't worry about her. She wasn't worth your time. I will deal with her at school... you can be sure of that! Don't blame yourself Marco. You're amazing!" I said and gave him a peck on the cheek. Marco blushed and smiled at me. "Thanks Star, you're the best." He said and I could see he meant every word.
"You don't understand how much I hate Jackie right now." I said as I laid down next to him. He turned to face me. "Don't worry about her..." he said and smiled at me. "But Marco, she broke your heart! Of course I'm going to worry about it!" I said and frowned. Marco smiled and sighed. "I dunno... maybe I was just destiny... maybe there was a reason she didn't show up, you know?" He said and turned onto his back. I thought about what he said and felt my cheeks heat up. "I guess you're right... The universe has something better in store for you." I said without looking at him. "Yeah." Was all he said before he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
I got up to go to my room, but I turned around and kissed marco softly on his forehead. "Buenas noches, mi amor..." I whispered and went to my room.
