Nice parents cliché
The parents are unrealistically nice and understanding and they let their kids do whatever they want, and don't appear annoyed when their child turns up at 3.00 am stoned and drunk. Seriously, no ones parents are like that.
Or maybe they're on holiday, selfishly not taking the child with them, so she can go out and have some 'fun' with her boyfriend without being told off.
But, the most usual cliché is the parents died, leaving the child carefree and with a sad backstory.
