'Sob Story' Cliché
I mentioned this in the 'parents' cliché, but it deserves a whole chapter on it! So, the protagonist, or the protagonists lover has some sort of sob story about their parents/siblings/guardians being abusive or drunks or dead.
Its ok if its RELATED to the plot, like in the Harry Potter series, but a lot of people just get rid of the parents so they have something the lover can hug the protagonist over, or just so they can throw wild parties and do whatever they like.
