Chapter Six: Graceful Encounter

"So, now that the stress is off, for the most part, I guess I should tell you who I am," I said, taking a bite of pizza.  "Thank you all, for your help. Helping someone like me, that not only you didn't know, but also required that much assistance, well, I don't know how to repay you."

"It's fine," Sam said.  "We're just glad you're okay."

"Yeah."  I nodded.  "Well, I'm Nicole Bennett.  I'm sixteen years old.  Turns out, last year, Metatron sent a demon to my universe to collect stories.  But, he had the amulet, and it absorbed much of the power that Metatron gave off.  That's why it's doing all of this weird stuff.

"I found the amulet after the demon stashed it somewhere.  Strange things started happening, and that's when I found the demon and trapped it.  He didn't really have much to say, just that he got rid of it once he realized its odd powers."

"What demon was this?  Is it one we know?" Sam asked.  I shook my head.

"His name was Patrick," I said.

"Patrick?" Dean began to laugh.  "Now that's officially the worst demon name I've ever heard."

"Ditto," I said.

"So, what universe are you from?" Dean asked.

"Um...I don't know what to call it, but Supernatural is a TV show."

"The one where Sam is married to Ruby?"

"Well, yes, but no."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"There are a few differences.  Like, that wasn't Sam's--Jared's--real house. And Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are, like, best friends.  Oh and Dean, you got married too.  And there are kids, too--you know what?  I'm rambling."

"Hm," Sam said, his arms crossed.

"So, if you watched this show...you know...our future?" Dean asked.

"Not much of it, but some, yes," I said.

"What about this?" Dean rolled up his shirt sleeve to show the Mark of Cain.  I cringed.  "Do you know if I ever...?"

"Get it off?  Yes.  But it causes a..."

"What?"

"...catastrophic event that results in the deaths of many people."

Dean leaned his head back with a groan.  "Fan-freaking-tastic."

"Wait...so what exactly did we do?" Sam asked.

"Stay away from the Book of the Damned.  It belongs to a crazy family that takes other people's body parts to use on themselves, for one.  They go to extensive measures to get the book back.  Trying to translate it causes you to bring in a powerful witch called Rowena, who is also Crowley's mother, as well as Charlie Bradbury.  And...Charlie dies."

I watched as Sam, Dean, and Castiel's eyes filled with more and more fright.

"Uhhh...once you finally get the spell, Dean kills Death, which will later cause the Reapers to threaten to toss your souls into the abyss after you die instead of going to Heaven or Hell so you two can't come back to life again...But, before that, the spell is used, releasing the Darkness into the world, which has been locked away since the beginning of time.  I think I got all of the important stuff. So, yeah."  I inhaled deeply after speaking way too much and way too fast.

Dean's eyes were wide.  "Wow," he said.

"Yeah," added Sam.

"The Darkness is just a story," Cas said.
