There's nothing worse than messing up your nation's anthem. While performing it. Especially at a high school football game. With the whole audience standing up, depending on you. Probably with some Veterans in the audience. Yep. This happened on my most recent field trip. And it wasn't just one wrong note....
Okay a little backstory: It was October 8th, the day my school's advanced band combined with our (brother?) school's marching band. We had it memorized, but we weren't used to the drum major conducting. THEREFORE, the tempo was faster than usual, and we were playing too slow while the other school played it perfectly. IT SOUNDED AWFUL.
Well at least that's over. Now I've got to make sure I don't screw up during the All District Honor Band.
