Right after the funeral, which consisted of a quick burial of all the sick, i gathered my small bag of personal possetions and left that city i had know as a little girl. One more quick thought of Ali baba, made me almost change my mind. I spun around, looking at the blistering hot little city of my memories. "No! No.." I reasured myself. There was nothing there for me anymore. Nothing... and no one...
I pushed the falling bag back up my back, and started down the little path that was marked with camal hooveprints.
I looked down the baren path, wondering if it was the right one for me. Well, it was the only one.
Althought all i could see was sand for miles, i had a feeling something was about to show up. I had that strange feeling that Ali baba used to call my, 'Red haired sencer'. He said when i felt it, something would always come.
And it turns out i was right, because a mile or two down the path, i could see a bazaar.
This better not be a halusanation..I thought to myself.
But as i got closer, i could see that it was indeed real, and people were busy running around buying and selling, and shouting out to the watchers that were trying to decide what to buy; if to buy anything at all.
Of course, i didnt have much money, but it was worth a look.
I slowly walked down the little road made for visitors, and spotted a water hole. That was why they probaby made the bazaar here.. I whispered under my tounge.
"Young lady!" A older man said with a accent.
"You buya soma water?" The man asked, rubbing his hands together.
I retaliated back. "B-buy? But its a watering hole! For everyone...right?"
"Lada.. i no understanda? You buya?" He did his best english, and reached out his hand for coins.
"Umm.. well sure.. i am desperate.." I said searching my pockets with coins.
The man looked at me pleased. Rubbing his finger together, he shouting something to a old women back in a shack. He laughed, and then it hit me he was trying to pull a fast one.
"Ohh.. im sorry, i must of left it on my camals backpack!" I fakely shouted looking over to a brute man standing by a camal.
"Can you go get it? Have as much as you like." I said hiding a smirk.
"W-woah, For realla?!" He looked over and ran to the camal, greedy for gold.
I dont remember much else, just something to do with a beating of a greedy old man by a brute, and me taking some water.
I ran over to the side of the bazaar, looking at the little money i had in my pocket. 4$ Huh?
That was as much as i'd ever had. I thought for a moment on what to do next. Maybe i could work as a maid in a lords castle.. or in a bakery, or maybe a resturaunt. Either way, i had to find a job soon. Or i might die and join my family, and i could do that, not just yet.
In the corner of my eye, i swore i saw a little boy, around 10, laughing at me, and then he quickly backed away when he saw me looking. However, he hid a little wink as he went.
It was getting dark, so i found a quiet place to rest underneith one of the mangroves in the water hole, and started to dream.
Not of much really, just of my family, and the times we were all together. It was a good dream, a pleasant one of happy thoughts, and feelings. But then, something strange happened, that , i had been waiting for.
All my family members, one by one, just, disapeared.
And then i heard a voice. A rather strange one, and not anything like the spooky ones you hear in horrors, just that of a childs voice.
The voice, somehow reminded me of the little boy laughing, but that was probably just my dream, being a dream, of course.
It was a sweet, carefree child. And it somehow made the nightmare better, more barable.
The little child was telling me, it was all going to be alright.
And.. here's the strangest part; he was telling me, to find a pair of golden shackles.
