Fall back in love

Chapter 1

"We're moving?!" I ask my parents as they give me the news that we are moving to California.

I don't mind moving, what I don't mind is going to a new school, people already bully me here because I'm a 'nerd' I don't need that to happen at another school.

"Your father and I have worked hard for this and it's happening. We leave in 4 days." I start storming out of the kitchen and go up to my room, but before I can walk any further my mom says something else. "If you see your brother tomorrow morning, can you tell him the news please?"

"I'll be sure too," I say before walking up to my room.

My name is Ashley Evans, I'm 17 years old, I have straight A's, and tutor annoying jocks that only care about fucking every girl that passes by.

I was in my room getting my stuff ready for school tomorrow when my phone rang. Knowing already who it was, I picked up the phone and answered it.

~Phone convo~ (R=Riley A= Ash)

A- Hi Riley, what's up?

R- Hey. I was wondering if you would like to go to a party Tuesday night?

I'm the kind of girl who gets bullied for being smart and isn't popular at all. Then there's Riley, she's smart, super confident, gorgeous, and is one of the most popular girls in school. She gets invited to things, I don't, yet she chooses to be my best friend.

A- Are you asking me that?

R- Yeah, why not?

A- First I most likely didn't get invited, second, it's a school night and third I have homework.

R- what if I told you I was throwing it?

A- I still wouldn't go.

R- Fair enough, can I at least come to your house tomorrow after school?

A- Sure. Oh, I have to tell you something but I'd rather tell you in person tomorrow.

R- alright I'll see you tomorrow.

I hang up the phone and pick up a book. I lay in bed and read until I fell asleep.

The next morning I woke up and got ready for school. I took a shower, blow-dried my hair, and straightened it. I decided on an oversized sweater with black leggings and my worn-out combat boots. After I put that on I went back to the bathroom to brush my teeth.

Once done I grabbed my phone and backpack and headed downstairs. Just as I thought nobody was home my brother Jonathan jumps on me and yells my name in my ear.

"Morning to you too Jonathan." I give him a fake smile. If you haven't noticed I'm not a morning person. "So I was wondering if you could put in a good word for me with Riley."

Let's talk about Jonathan, He's my twin brother but he's everything I'm not. He's popular, good-looking, is the captain of the football team and He's also one of the idiots I have to tutor.

"Aren't you dating Evelyn? why would you want me to hook you up with Riley?" I ask lifting an eyebrow in confusion.

"We broke up days ago because she was super hot." He smirks making me roll my eyes. "You do realize we only have 3 days here, right?" I told him laughing.

"What do you mean we have 3 days left here?" He frowns. I just shook my head and left towards my car to pick Riley up and go to school.

"Hey, Ash. Ready for the hell whole people like to call school?" Riley asks laughing while getting into the car. "Always am." I sigh driving away from her house to school.

When we got to school I went straight to my locker to get my books for my first 3 classes. After that, I started walking to my first-period class, physics. 

I got in 5 minutes early greeted Mrs.Watson and went to my seat in the front of the room. Soon the bell rang and students started coming in.

I was reading my book when I felt someone sit next to me and say hi. I look up completely caught off guard and look at the person, it was Greyson Pierre.

"Hi," I say shyly and smile. He smiled back at me and took out his books. I took out mine as well since the class was about to start.

I've had a crush on Greyson since my freshman year but never actually had the guts to ask him on a date or anything. He's not extremely popular but everyone in the school is friends with him. We've never had a conversation but he has stood up for me a couple of times.

"Okay class, you will be assigned a project today, just a simple lab report with a partner I will be assigning to you," Mrs.Watson said as everyone groaned. Mainly, I don't want to get assigned a lazy slacker that doesn't want to do anything.

She named everyone's partner and I wasn't paying attention until I heard my name being called out. "Ashley and Greyson." My eyes widened and I completely froze.

"Okay, class you have until Wednesday. I suggest you get started." She says as she starts passing out the lab reports.

"So I guess we're partners." Greyson smiles. "Yeah. Do you want to work on it tomorrow after school?" I ask him pushing my glasses up my nose.

"Yeah sure, that sounds good." He says flipping his hair out of his face. We started working and taking notes from our book.

After a while, the bell rang indicating it was the end of class. "I'll see you later, Greyson." I grabbed all my stuff and left for my second period, English.

"No way. Do you have to work with Greyson on a project?! That's awesome Ash!" Riley said excited about the news I just gave her.

"No, it's not Riles, you know I'm really bad at socializing." It was now lunch, today I didn't have to tutor anyone so I had the period free to hang out with Riley., before our next class.

"What if he asks you out on a date? You can't just blow him off just because you're bad at socializing." She says rolling her eyes.

"It's not like he ever will, I'm a nerd, remember? Nobody likes nerds and even if I wanted to I can't." I say looking down at my fidgeting hands.

"And why is that?" She asked lifting an eyebrow.

"Because I'm moving. My parents got transferred to California so we are moving up there, we leave on Wednesday." I mumble as I watch her jaw drop.

"What? Why didn't you tell me earlier?" She asked with sadness evident in her voice. "We could've spent the weekend together."

"I found out yesterday before going to bed. I'm sorry, I wish I could stay and finish my senior year with you."

"It's fine, we have three days together. Let's make the best of them." She said hugging me and I hugged her back.
