Alexis wasn't too thrilled that school was over. That meant she had to go home and put up with her step dad, she shuddered at that. She hoped he wasn't home. The rest of the day had gone well after her run in with Lucas. She had heard the girls gossiping about him and had learnt his name. They were all going crazy for him and when she had heard a girl say that she had slept with him and that he was good, she had never felt such violence before. She had wanted to punch that girl in the face, proof to how much jealously she had experienced. She was so confused and didn't understand what was happening to her. She knew some part of her was attracted to him on a deeper level but she would rather burn in hell than face that fact or do anything about it.

She hadn't seen Lucas for the rest of the day and she was happy about that. At least that's what she keeps telling herself. Waiting on Jake in the parking lot, she spotted him and waved him over. 'Hey how was your last class? Ok?' She asked him as they made their way home.

'It was cool. The day wasn't a total waste,' Jake replied with a lopsided grin. Then he became serious. 'What happen today?'

Alexis knew what he was talking about but decided to play dumb. 'What do you mean?' She couldn't explain what had happen since she didn't know herself.

'Come on Alexis, I know you know what I'm talking about. Who was that guy?'

'I don't know exactly ok. The only thing I know is that I was on my way to his table he obviously didn't me there so I began to leave when I fell. Next thing I knew I was in his arms and that's when you came along. I don't know why he behaved the way he did. It is a big mystery to me. What I would like to know is why you didn't say anything when he grabbed you up like that?' Jake wasn't a fighter but he wasn't one to stand back and get picked on.

Ignoring her question, he asked one of his own 'So...why didn't you want me to touch you? You moved away from me.' He had said with a hurt expression 'And that guy, it was like he didn't want me to touch you. I could see that he genuinely didn't want me near you.

So it was only her that heard the growl. Her brows furrowed in confusion, what was she to tell Jake? 'I honestly don't know Jake. Let's just forget about it. And you didn't answer my question.'

'Well, I didn't want to fight for two reasons, one your step dad won't like it if I get into a fight and he has to come to the school that would seriously piss him off. Secondly that guy would probably kick my ass,' Jake added effectively lightening the tense atmosphere between them.

Alexis laughed out loud 'Yeah, he would.' They were almost home now and the laugh died on her lips leaving apprehension in its place. 'I hope he isn't home.' She sighed.

'It's going to be okay.' Jake said while hugging her. They walked up the house and saw that Peter, her step dad's car was in the drive way. Alexis heart pick up speed as she made her way inside. She hoped to God he wasn't drunk. Trying not to make a sound, they closed the door and was about to head for the stairs when they heard him coming from the living room. They had learned the hard way not to disturb him for anything.

'You two get in here,' Jack shouted. They looked at each other and without much choice they made their way into the living room. Their living room wasn't much, just a brown leather couch, a glass table situated in the middle with a television set. They sat down on the couch side by side and watched as Jack took a seat before them in one of the arm chairs. He was about 41, wearing a purple polo shirt with black trousers; his dark brown hair was combed back meaning he was going out. His brown eyes glared at them and Alexis tense from the hatred she saw with its brown depth. They didn't understand why he hated them so much. After her mom died he had turned into a different person. At one point she wonder if it was because he had loved her mother too much and seeing Alexis he was reminded of her and that was why he was angry at the time.
