'Miguel what's going on?' Lucas asked impatiently when he got into the forest behind his school. All he wanted to do was get back to Alexis. His heart flutter when he thinks about her, she was giving him a second chance and he couldn't wait to get started with their lives.

Miguel started pacing and he knew what he had to say was bad 'Why didn't you tell me that your mate was coming into the hospital today?'

Okay? 'She didn't tell me she was going. Why? What happen?'

'Well the doctor who examined her was human and he took a sample of her blood. He was telling me about Alexis Manro and I realized he was talking about your mate. Congratulations by the way. Anyway he is the kind of doctor that is always researching and he kept talking about how weird Alexis was when he examined her. He then went about examining her blood and he told the whole team that Alexis' blood didn't match any human type blood.'

'Fuck.' It was because she was pregnant; her blood would mix with his pups.

'Yeah...when I asked to see it he refused saying it was his ‘’discovery’’. This could expose us all and it's only a matter of time before they bring in the government or something like that. All the doctors have agreed to bring in Alexis for assessment. What should we do Alpha?'

There was no way in hell he was allowing his mate to be any lab rat for any fucking humans. He began forming a plan but before he could voice it he heard another wolf running towards them. It was a young pup and he turned and waited for him to reach up to them. 'Yes, Jarod? What is it?'

'Alpha I think Luna is in trouble. A man came for her in school; I think it was her step dad. She didn't want to go Alpha, she was scared. She told me to come get you.' Lucas was already half way out the forest before Jarod could finish. He could hear how tired he was in trying to keep up.

'Thank you Jarod. Stay here, we'll take care of it.' With a racing heart he rushed to the parking lot and jumped in his car. He sped out of the parking lot aware that the others were right behind him. On his way to her house he saw Jake running home and he knew that Alexis was really in trouble. God if he hurt her...

He didn't even shut the car door when he jumped out before running up to her house. He listened but didn't hear anything but hard breathing. Jake and the others reach up to him just as he burst up through the door and what he saw had him frozen. Alexis was lying on the floor in a pile of broken glass unconscious. Her step dad was standing over her with a foot resting on her stomach.

'Alexis!' He heard Jake yell behind him. Alexis didn't respond; every time she was in trouble he always find her unconscious lying on the floor. He was tired of it; he always aged more when he saw her.

'Who the fuck are you? Get the hell out of my house.' Lucas snapped his attention to who he assumed must be the step dad, Jack. He stalked towards him letting his eyes, hands partially shift. His finger nails extended as he grabbed him around his throat and throw him across the room. He went to his mate and looked her over.

Her face was bruised up and there was blood running from over her eyes and from her lips. A whimper escaped him when he lift her blouse and saw the bruises there. 'Baby wake up, please wake up.' It was very difficult for a wolf to see his mate beaten and bruised up and unconscious. It was so hard for him that he receded into himself.

'What is Lucas doing?' He heard Jake asked. Where was he? He seemed so far away. He wanted nothing more than to just stay beside her and he did just that. He shifted into his wolf and went down beside her not caring that the glass was poking at his skin. He whimpered as he used his head to shift hers so she could rest a little on his fur before resting his head on her chest. He fanned her with his tail caressing her body. He will wait until she wakes up. Nothing else mattered. Far away he heard a scream.
