Chapter 54

Alexis jumped when she heard a loud 'SURPRISE!!' Her eyes widen when she noticed the banner that said Congratulations Mommy and realized that this was a baby shower. The living room was decorated in pink, gold and blue balloons, ribbons and some balloon animals, the original pure white living room decor mixed with the colour made the whole setting a beautiful one. The girls were standing there looking pleased as ever as they grin from ear to ear. Carmen had a tray of strawberries coated in chocolate and her mouth suddenly watered.

'Oh my gosh, you guys throw me a baby shower.' She finally let out. She was genuinely surprised, she had no clue that they were up to something like this. She had spent her time with the girls when Lucas was out on his Alpha business and they hadn't given anything away when they talked. 'Thank you so much. I love it already.' No one has ever thrown her a surprise party before, not even when he parents were alive. And she felt tears swim in her eyes. They all came to hug her and she gladly hug them back giving Kara the tightest squeeze knowing she is the master mind behind the whole idea. 'You guys are the best.'

'Come let’s eat then we can start with the presents. I have apple flavoured champagne...mushroom ravioli...' Alexis could only smile when Kara went on about the different types of food they had and she was excited to try everything. She was just about to sit down when Lucas stopped, she had completely forgotten he was there.

'I'll see you later love. Have a nice day and please take it easy.' He kissed her lovingly and rubbed her tummy.

'You're leaving? You can stay...' He chuckled and look behind her. When she turn to see what he was looking at she saw that the girls were giving him the evil eye. 'Umm I guess they don't want you here...'

'It fine baby, have fun.' He kissed her again and only when everyone started shouting from behind her he broke the kiss. He laughed and left after that. 'Love you mate.' She heard him say through their connection. The words always warm her to the core and make her heart beat faster. 'I love you too mate.'

Turning back to the group of impatient people she went and sit in one of the arm chair they had pulled up so everyone was in a tight circle. 'First of all can I have some of that chocolate covers strawberries? They look delicious.' Carmen smiled and hand her a plate with 3 of the goodies to her but she didn't think it was enough. 'Put 2 more please' She told her through the mind link. She had been surprised when she learned that she could communicate telepathically with everyone linked to the pack.

Lucas had explained that it was because she was now mated to the Alpha and the pack now belongs to her too. Imagined her shock when she learned that she was the Luna and everyone has to do what she says. Lucas had told her that the Luna always ensure that the pack was okay and wasn't in need of anything on a day to day basis. He told her that any problems the members have, especially the women, it was her job to find a solution for it and when it is beyond her help she should refer it to him, the Alpha.

It was a heady feeling and a huge responsibility that she wasn't sure she could handle. So far however, there wasn't anything that needed her attention; no one had come to her for any help. She did however walk around the territory and try to meet everyone in the pack. Carmen had told her it was a good way to get to know the people of the pack and she didn't mind meeting new people. In fact she enjoyed it.

Her baby shower continued and she was having a lot of fun just laughing and enjoying her friends company and the food. Pretty soon it was time to open presents 'Here this one is from Carmen and Alandro.' Kara said handing her a big blue box with a huge gold ribbon on it. She was so excited that she ripped all the wrappings of with her nails. She was at this point glad that she could partially shift-she had canines like Lucas' and her nails can get really long and sharp when she wants them to.
