"Ok. So I know only like 2 of you are actually candidates for this, so let's keep it pretty short." Coach Gilbsy said still glancing at her clipboard that was rested on her hips. "Who's up first? Ellie? How about you?"  Ellie walked up the bleachers. Soon enough she was above all of us, just like she would want to be. She took a folded up piece of notebook paper and straightened it up then cleared her throat.

What was I going to do? I had no speech prepared and I'm sure I would loose! I started thinking in my mind of words to say.

I've been on the team since freshmen year.
I'm very cooperative but exact.

I'll be your friend and coach.

Ugh. No that was too cheesy. I looked up at Ellie. She was probably deep into her speech, I hadn't really been listening.
"...so I know how everyone works." Of course you do, Ellie. You  know everything. "Everyone has different needs and approaches, but I want to be able to help you all." Hmm. "So please, make the right decision.." She looked at me in the eye with an evil snare. "And vote for Ellie!" She gave a big smile then walked off. All of her friends were cheering and grabbing hands.

"All right. Taylor? Your turn." Coach searched in the crowd for me then smiled and directed me to the bleachers. I walked up slowly dreading each step. Here goes nothing. Literally.

"Ok. So umm... I'm Taylor O' Sullivan and I'm here... Well.. Um.. I want to be your captain this year." I searched around the crowd and found Mae. She put up a thumb and smiled. "I have been on the team since the very beginning, freshman year. Cheerleading isn't just a sport for me, but a treasure." Ellie snarled at me and rolled her eyes. That meant I was doing good. "I hope that's the same for all of you. Together I will turn you from girls to athletes... To real cheerleaders." Oh god. Was that to harsh? "I know that all of us, as a team can do amazing. So vote for me because I care about our success!" It was silent. No one was talking or saying anything. Suddenly, someone started clapping. Then another girl joined in and then her friend and then another. Finally, the entire team was clapping and shouting and cheering.
"Tay-lor! Tay-lor!Tay-lor!!"
"Well I think that clears up our voting. Taylor, congratulations! You are the new 2015 Panthers Cheer Captain!" Coach patted me on the back then whispered in my ear.
"Catch your new uniform after practice in the locker room."
Everyone was still cheering and yelling as I walked down. The entire team met in a group hug. As we were hugging, I watched Ellie run off the field. Her hands over her face.
