Chapter Sixteen
"Hey babe," Cheryl smiled as Kimberley flicked her eyes open, gently she continued to stoke her cheek.
"Hi," the blonde grumbled back. Why did it have to be so damn hot? Kicking the covers off she revealed her near naked body to the Geordie. "It's fukin' boilin'!"
"It is." Cheryl scanned the girls body. It was the first time she had seen it in this state of undress during the daytime. Looking back up she smiled at Kimberley's cuteness. Her face was framed with messy bed hair and only one of her eyes remained open as the other stayed scrunched up, trying to block out the light.
"What?" the older girl asked.
Shaking her head, Cheryl continued to smile. "Nothing. You just look so cute." Pulling her hand away, she stood up. "Come on. I went to the store this morning," she winked, her rubbish American accent making Kimberley laugh. "I've made breakfast home dog!" She then threw the blonde one of her best impressions of a gangster hand signs, causing the girl to nearly fall of the bed in giggles.
* * * * *
"Breakfast!? I was expecting pancakes, fried food . . . all the unhealthy stuff! Not fruit!"
Cheryl laughed as she watched the girl sit at the table, a picture of disgust plastered on her face. "Babe you know I'm not a good cook."
"Good point!" Kimberley winked back cheekily before picking up a strawberry and popping it into her mouth. "Any plans for today?"
"I was thinkin' we could go to the beach?"
"That sounds nice. Is it far?"
Cheryl burst out laughing. "I told you it wasn't. It's literally on me doorstep. I have a pool too though if you want to just stay here?"
"Nah it's fine. The beach sounds like a good idea."
Sitting down, Cheryl smiled before reaching across and placing her hand on the blondes arm. "Are you feelin' better now?"
"I am thanks. I think it was just a build up . . . you know?"
"I understand, but just know whenever you need comforting, or you feel sad and want a shoulder to cry on . . . I'm here . . . ok?"
"Ok," Kimberley smiled, placing her hand over the Geordie's. "I know it's goin' to get harder, so I'll bear that in mind."
"When did you start realising that you didn't love him the way you should babe? If you don't mind me asking."
Kimberley hesitated for a minute. Should she tell the truth? Or should she lie through her teeth? "When things he done used to effect me suddenly stopped effecting me," she eventually replied, lieing being the best option in her opinion.
Cheryl nodded. That should never happen to two people in love. Yes they get used to each other, and the honeymoon, sex three times a day, phase fades, but not after six months. Even her and Ashley had had sex at least twice a day and they had been together three years, but that was just a memory. "You can't force youself to love someone babe . . . same way you can't help falling, and being in love with someone."
"Has that ever happened to you?" Kimberley asked.
"What?"
"Have you ever fell in love with someone you wish you hadn't?"
"Yes . . . well . . . I dunno. I mean at first I was happy that I fell in love with Ashley because it felt right, but now I wish I hadn't. That's why it was and still is quite hard. I always thought he felt the same, but obviously I was wrong. Obviously I wasn't enough for him. He just kept wanting more, and at the end of the day I just wasn't able to give that to him." The truth, or what she thought was the truth, made Cheryl teary. As she had said . . . you can't just stop loving someone, and right now she still felt very much in love with the man, even if he was a knob. But day by day that love she still felt was fading, and she was happy with that.
