Chapter Thirty Nine

"Cheryl?" Kimberley said, her tone gentle. Sitting down on the edge of the bed, she placed the cup on the bedside table.

"Mmm..." Cheryl grumbled, turning onto her side and shuffling further under the covers.

Kimberley giggled. "You need to get up baby," she smiled, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "I made you a nice cup of tea."

"Another ten minutes."

She laughed at her girlfriends resistance. "You'll miss the plane if you don't get up now."

"But it's f*ckin' freezin'!" Cheryl continued to moan.

"I've just turned the heatin' on... someone turned it off last night," Kimberley replied, rolling her eyes.

"We made enough heat ourselves." Eventually sitting up, Cheryl gave a cheeky wink before rubbing her eyes.

"We sure did," Kimberley agreed, her mind going into overdrive as she thought back to the previous night, a smile reaching her lips. "Here drink your tea," she said, reaching for the mug and handing it to Cheryl.

"Thanks," Cheryl smiled gratefully. She began sipping it, her hand reaching over to rest on Kimberley's thigh. "What time do I need to be at the airport for?"

"At the latest... half seven," Kimberley replied. "I told the girls I would be in a bit later today so I can take you."

Both girls women fell into a comfortable silence, Cheryl drinking her tea as Kimberley watched her with a smile on her face.

"I'll miss you, you know?" she said, eventually breaking it.

Patting her thigh, Cheryl smiled back sadly. "I know you will. I'll miss you too."

"I'll never get used to drivin' that!" Kimberley laughed, refering to the fact that she had drove them to the airport in Cheryl's car.

"Aye, I could tell! You drive slower than me nan!" Cheryl responded as they rolled both her cases through the airport, heading for the check in desks.

"Oi!" Smacking Cheryl's bottom, Kimberley stuck her tongue out. "You're just jealous 'cos I'm a good driver!"

"You keep tellin' yourself that granny!" Cheryl shot back.

Coming to the desks, both of them waited in the small queue that had formed.

"Do you want to go to McDonald's? The plane doesn't depart for another hour," Cheryl said, turning to smile at the check in girl.

"Yeah," Kimberley agreed, reaching out to rub her back.

After checking in, answering all the girls questions and handing over her passport, Cheryl accepted it back before taking hold of Kimberley's hand. "Let's go," she winked, guiding them in the direction of the restaurant.

"You know..." Kimberley started as they made their way there. "It's only a week."

"That's what I keep tellin' meself," Cheryl responded, her grip tightening on Kimberley's hand.

"What do you want?" Cheryl asked as Kimberley lowered herself into one of the booths.

"Just a coffee for me," came the reply.

"You sure?" she smiled.

Kimberley nodded. "Yeah babe... I'm not really hungry." As the Geordie grabbed her purse and walked off, she sighed.

A week without her... what would she do?

After ordering her food, Cheryl returned. "Here you go sexy," she winked handing kimberley her coffee and then sitting down and tucking into her McMuffin.

"It's a wonder to me how you're so skinny," The blonde laughed, as she observed her girlfriend stuffing her face with the extra hash brown she had requested.

"It's a wonder to me how you have that amazin' booty," Cheryl shot back with a cheeky wink. "You don't eat half the sh*t I do."

In mock offence, Kimberley reached across and slapped her arm. "Rude!"

"It's not a bad think you know!" replied Cheryl. "Infact, it's a very very good thing. And as for how I keep trim..." she continued. "Duhh... dance teacher. Ring any bells?"

"Oohh yes... you actually work. I forgot all about that since you never go!"

It was then Cheryl turn to slap her girlfriend. "Cheeky *Female Dog*!" she giggled, a drop of sauce dripping for her Muffin and landing onto her top. "Sh*t!" she cursed, reaching for a napkin. "Look what you made me do!"

"No, look what your silly behaviour made you do!" Kimberley laughed while also picking up a napkin. Leaning forward, she carefully began to wipe it away. "There... good as new," she smiled. Just as she pulled her hand away, Cheryl grabbed hold of it.

"Thanks," she told her, still not letting go.

Kimberley responded by leaning in to kiss her. "It's no bother," she whispered onto her lips.

Cheryl pulled away when she heard the familiar sound of the tannoy, asking for anyone departing for Florida to report to their appointed terminal. "I better go," she said, a lump forming in her throat, although, she didn't know why. It wasn't as if she was going away forever.

"If you cry I swear I'll slap you," Kimberley warned, for her own benefit really. She knew if Cheryl cried she would end up bubbling too.

"I'm not goin' to cry," Cheryl giggled, flapping her arms about in a bid to compose herself. "I bet you think I'm a right daft cow!" she joked. "Let's just say our goodbyes here, ok?"

"Yeah," Kimberley agreed, knowing they had a bit more privacy. Moving round, she positioned herself next to the brunette. "I love you, ok? And you better phone me as soon as you get there," she said before lowering her hand to her thigh and giving it a loving squeeze.

"I will," Cheryl reassured. "And you better behave youself!" she giggled, her tone somewhat serious.

"I will," Kimberley winked, copying Cheryl.

"Ok..." Moving closer once again, Cheryl kissed the blonde. "I guess I'll see you in a weeks time then," she mumbled onto her lips.

"You sure will baby," replied Kimberley. She watched as her girlfriend reluctantly pulled away a stood up.

"I love you," Cheryl smiled, picking up her bag.

"Love you too," Kimberley said, a soft pout adoring her lips as Cheryl let go of her hand. "Call me, ok?" she reminded her.

"Aye, aye." Bending down to give her a final kiss goodbye, Cheryl then pulled away and turned, heading in the direction of her terminal.

Kimberley sat and watched until she was completely out of site, her heart sinking.

Pulling up outside her shop in Cheryl's car, Kimberley turned the ignition off before climbing out.

She would never get used to driving that! It was way to powerful for her.

The little bell rang as she entered the shop. She looked around, smiling at all of the customers until she reached one in particular.

"Alright sexy... nice car," the man winked.
