Chapter Thirty
Kimberley turned onto her side and looked at the small alarm clock infront of her. It was half four already and she hadn't slept a wink. In a strange way, she knew what Cheryl was getting at with the joint account, but it really wasn't necessary at this stage. They were still getting to know each other. That and the fact that she was fiercely independent.
Getting out of bed, she made her way out of her room and down the hallway towards Cheryl's. Pushing the door open gently, she crept in, the sight of her girlfriend melting her heart. She climbed in behind her, wrapping her arms around her waist.
"Kimberley," Cheryl mumbled, her body shifting under the girls touch.
"Shh...it's me babe. Just go back to sleep," Kimberley responded, snuggling closer and kissing the nape of her neck.
Ignoring her completely, Cheryl turned in the embrace, placing her hand on Kimberley's cheek and rubbing it gently. "I'm so sorry baby," she said, her eyes watering with tears. "You're completely right and I realise that now."
"Hey... don't cry sweetheart," Kimberley said, trying to control her own emotions. Reaching up, she wiped the tears from under Cheryl's eyes. "It's ok babe. I understand why you wanted to do it, but you have to understand that all those things are meant to happen later. It's just better that way. There's no point jumping in head first, it will just cause problems and I wouldn't say that if I didn't truly believe it. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say because . . .?"
Cheryl cut the girl off with a kiss. "I understand baby," she whispered onto her lips as she pulled away. "I was stupid to think that it was a good idea in the first place."
"No. . . you weren't stupid at all," Kimberley smiled while licking her lips, savoring the taste of her girlfriends. "From what you have told me about Ashley, I can understand why you thought it was a good idea. I just want you to know that I'm different. The best things in life are free and the simple things are the sweetest. If you were to give me the choice of either having a diamond bracelet that you had bought from the most expensive jewellers in London or a bracelet you had made yourself out of pipe cleaners . . . ," Kimberley smiled as Cheryl giggled before continuing. "I would want the bracelet you made me Cheryl because it would mean so much more. It would be sentimental to me."
Cheryl continued to cry, but her tears were of happiness. "I love you so much," she sighed, pressing their foreheads together and closing her eyes.
"I love you too," Kimberley replied, her hand running down the girls back and coming to rest just above her bum. "If you still want to go to America then that's fine."
"Will you come?" asked Cheryl, trying her hardest to get her emotions back under control.
Kimberley began playing with the hem of Cheryl's shorts. "Of course I'll come," she giggled. "God knows what would happen if I let you go yourself and beach boy just happened to spot you alone."
"Nothing," Cheryl laughed. "I'm all yours and always will be."
The smooth skin of her girlfriends neck was becoming more inviting to Kimberley. Pulling back, she ran a delicate finger over the flesh. "I think we should go after tellin' our family and friends. What do you think?"
"I think that's a brilliant idea. But what about redecorating?"
"What about it?" Kimberley asked, leaning in to place a soft, single kiss on Cheryl's neck.
"Would you mind?"
"Of course I wouldn't. It's your money and you can do what you want with it. It's also something you want to do for yourself and that's a good thing." She said, her eyes boring into Cheryl's. "But how long would it take?"
"I suppose we could start making arrangements now. Maybe a month?"
"That's a long time," Kimberley hesitated. She certainly didn't want to upset her girlfriend again. "I really can't leave the cafe for that long."
Cheryl smiled, she also didn't want another disagreement. "Well, how long could you take off?"
Kimberley ran her finger back down the girls neck. "Two weeks at the most."
"Maybe I could go out for the first two and you could join me on the last two?"
"If that's what you want to do then that's fine angel," the blonde smiled.
"Not really, but I want to do it right. We can talk about it more tomorrow though." Cheryl reasoned. She could tell Kimberley was tired.
"Yeah . . . we can," Kimberley smiled. "Right now I just want to close my eyes, feel the love of my lifes body holding me tight and fall asleep because I'm knackered and haven't slept a wink all night."
Laughing, Cheryl pulled her closer. "That sounds like a brilliant idea," she yawned. Leaning in, she captured her girlfriends lips with her own, kissing her passionately. "I love you," she whispered onto them before kissing them once more and snuggling into the crook of her neck.
"I love you too," Kimberley whispered back, closing her eyes and smiling. "More than anything."
