Chapter Fourty Four
"Kimber..."
Cheryl was nearly knocked off of her feet when Kimberley lunged on her, leaving her cases outside and smothering every available inch of her skin in kisses.
"I've missed you so much," mumbled Kimberley as she brough her lips up, leveling them with her girlfriends before kissing them softly.
Cheryl didn't respond, instead she kissed her back, wrapping her arms around her waist and pulling her closer.
Kimberley smiled as she felt Cheryl's tongue demanding entrance to her mouth. Granting it, she snaked her arms around her slender neck, doing what she had been thinking about for a whole seven days... embracing her lover.
"I though you were goin' to phone me," Cheryl asked, as they broke apart.
Leaning forward, Kimberley pressed their foreheads together, her hand cupping the girls cheek as she looked lovingly into her gorgeous brown eyes. "I couldn't wait for you, I just wanted to get here as quickly as possible," she smiled. "So, I grabbed my cases and got in the nearest taxi."
"I've missed you too," Cheryl replied, "So much." Reaching down, she took hold of Kimberley's hands, noticing something different. "Where's your ring?" she frowned.
Cheryl sat in the darkness, playing with the ring between her fingers.
Her body was numb as the tears streamed from her eyes.
Even the sound of the door wasn't enough to bring her out of her daze, her cheating spouse walking in a frowning at the sight infront of him.
"What are you doin'?" he asked, switching on the light.
Cheryl cringed at the sound of his voice... it disgusted her. Turning, she looked him in the eyes. "Why was this left in the bathroom?" she asked, holding out his wedding band.
Ashley shrugged, clearly bewildered at the state his wife was in. "I must of forgot to put it back on when I came out of the shower."
Blinking her eyes shut, Cheryl took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. "Get out!" she said sternly, her voice breaking.
"What?" Ashley laughed. "What are you on!?"
"Get f*ckin' out... Now!" Cheryl shouted. Pushing herself up, she charged towards him. "Get out of my house!"
Ashley held his hands out, pushing her away from him. "Cheryl! What are you on about!?"
"F*ckin' cheat!" she shouted, eventually breaking.
It was something she didn't want to believe, something she didn't want to say out loud.
Like a deer caught in the headlights, Ashley stood, not quite knowing what to say. "I haven't cheated on you," he said, his head shaking.
That was the final straw for Cheryl. How dare he? How dare he have the audacity to lie. "So, tell me, what were you doin' at Jess's? Did she had a leaky tap?" she laughed, although, she found nothing remotely funny about the situation.
Ashley remained silent. Of course he couldn't tell her.
"Get out!?" Cheryl scowled once more, throwing the ring at him before taking her own off and doing the same.
"This is over!"
"Here," Kimberley smiled, pulling the chain out from under her top. "At work..."
"Why haven't you got it on!?" Cheryl butted in, not giving her the chance to explain.
It was the tone Kimberley noticed. Stepping back, she broke from the embrace, remaining silent as she walked over to the door and pulled in her cases.
"Well, answer me!?" Cheryl demanded.
Kimberley shook her head, tears threatening her eyes as she turned to face the girl once more. "It's on a chain because I nearly lost it at work, Cheryl!" she snapped. "It's too big and I need to get it resized."
Cheryl really didn't have a reply. "I'm sorry," she mumbled, reaching for Kimberley's hand as she walked by her.
"Just leave me alone for a while," responded Kimberley, shaking free from her grip.
