Chapter 7- Getting Even

"Wow, that's quiet an interesting tale."

Dante and Aphmau were telling me all about their journey up until I had come. Aphmau definitely isn't your typical Lord, which I can respect her for that.

"Yeah, that's pretty much what happened." Dante confirmed.

I smirked, "I still can't believe that you tamed a horse."

"What can I say? I have a way with animals." He ran his fingers through his hair.

Yeah, okay...

Aphmau scoffed, "Is that so Dante, then shall I tell your sister about how your horse almost kicked you in the-"

"NO!" Dante yelled.

Aphmau and I burst out laughing. Dante's face was redder than a tomato.

Man, I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard.

Or at all...

"Anyway, we're heading out to Pikoro Village to save a fellow Lord."

My blood boiled.

Pikoro Village...

"Amethyst, are you okay?" Aphmau looked at me with questioning eyes.

I looked down at my clenched fists to see them heating up... literally.

Crap.

"Let's just say, I've had my fair share of bad blood with that village. It doesn't exactly care much for magicks users so I would not recommend bringing Malachi."

"So, you're not coming?" Dante asked.

"No. Very bad idea. I don't want to jeopardize anyone's safety. I've had a run in with Pikoro villagers once before, all I'm gonna say is that I almost died."

Dante turns to Aphmau, "Well, we should be going then, my Lord."

No way. No freaking way. He didn't just... He's her...

Aphmau gave him a puzzled look, "Wait, what?"

"I guess what I'm trying to say is, I humbly accept your offer Lord Aphmau."

My baby brother is all grown up... *tear, tear*

Aphmau smiled, "Welcome to the guard of Phoenix Drop Dante!"

I COULD CRY! I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!

Okay Amethyst, you need to calm yourself.

Aphmau and Dante kept talking but I was only half listening.

Mainly because I was to busy having a fangirl moment in my mind.

~Before Aphmau leaves to Pikoro~

"Bad idea."

I felt kind of bad for shutting down Garroth's idea, but I knew better than to let them go into Pikoro blindly.

"What do you mean?"

"Pikoro Village is swarming with O'Khasis guards. All of you going is only asking for trouble."

"Then what do you suppose we do?"

I took a moment to think, "Look, it may be risky, but what if Aphmau goes alone and we give her a communication amulet to stay in touch for the time being?"

"What if the guards try to detain her?!?"
Garroth questioned.

"The way communication amulets work is like this. If she breaks hers on her end, ours will break on our end. That way we'll know if she's in danger."

"Alright, but where would we get a communication amulet?"

"I'm sure Lucinda could make one. Come on, let's go ask her."

"Um, Amethyst?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm truly sorry about my... brother..."

I smiled and put my hand on his shoulder(and NO Am does not like Garroth, there is no way in hell that I would ever let that happen), "Garroth, he's your brother. I'm sorry for you."

~After Aphmau leaves~

Garroth and I saw Aphmau off as she rode away on her horse.

I could tell Garroth was worried about her.

Awwww!

"Hey, she'll be fine."

"How can you be so sure?"

"Because between you, me, my brother and Laurence, those O'Khasis guards are screwed if they as much laid one hand on her. And if what I heard from the O'Khasis guard when I was disguised is true, Jeffory is there. He won't hurt her, I'm sure."

"I hope you're right."

I left Garroth to his thoughts but was soon pulled over by Laurence.

"So... Amethyst..."

"Yeah?"

"About the other day, look, I really didn't mean to almost kill you."

"Don't worry about it. I know you were just protecting your girlfriend." I smirked.

Laurence raised an eyebrow, "You actually think I have a shot with her?"

"Nope."

"Ouch. So, are we cool?"

"Yeah, sure."

I turned my back to him, grabbed his arm, flipped him over and pinned him to the ground.

I gave him a devious grin, "Okay, now we're cool."

I could hear Garroth and Dante cracking up behind me.

"Dante... remind me... to never mess with... your sister..." Laurence panted.

I think I might enjoy these guys' company.
