Chapter 13- Trust

Dante had finished telling Aphmau about our past, leaving out certain parts... When he told her of his intent to go after our brother the first chance he got.

What?!? No! I can't allow him to go after Gene! I CAN'T let him! I won't let him make my same mistakes... And why the hell is he telling Aphmau this?!? She'll never let you stay as her guard now!

But she did... Surprisingly... She allowed Dante to stay as her guard.

If she trusts us, then we can trust her...

She's a good person... She's not like... Them...

I refrained from saying anything, I didn't want Dante and Aphmau to know that I was eavesdropping and I turned in.

In the morning...

"HOW COULD YOU HAVE LOST YOUR HORSE DANTE?!?" Laurence bellowed.

"WELL I'M SORRY THAT I DIDN'T TIE IT UP LAST NIGHT!!" Dante fumed.

My eyes are being rolled right now, in case you can't tell.

"YOU HAD ONE JOB DANTE!"

"IT WAS JUST A FREAKING HORSE!!"

"YOU ARE SUCH AN IDIOT-"

That's it. I've had it with these idiots.

My hands became engulfed with flames created by the loss of my temper.

"ONE MORE WORD OUT OF EITHER OF YOU AND SO HELP ME I WILL END YOUR LIFE IN THE MOST PAINFUL WAY POSSIBLE!"

Everyone's eyes went wide.

Dammit... You really need to control your temper Am... Now YOU'RE the one yelling...

I cleared my throat, "Look, if we keep screaming our heads off, we aren't going to accomplish anything. What we can do, is search for the horse. So, I'll go with Dante to look for his horse, and the rest of you will stay here. If we can't find the horse within the next 20 minutes we'll just assume that the horse was eaten by an eldrich crab and go on our merry way. Sounds like a plan?"

"Sounds like a plan, and I'll come too." Garroth volunteered.

I nodded, "Alright, then let's get moving."

Some time later...

"I found it!" I cried out triumphantly.

Dante walked towards my direction, "Great! Let's-"

"Stop." I put up my hand.

"Huh?" Dante scratched his head.

"Remember the last time you tried to tame a horse and it kicked you in the-"

"I GOT IT THANKS SIS!"

Garroth stifled laugh.

I fluttered my eyelids, "Just thought I'd remind you of your... Unique... Animal training abilities..."

"HEY! GARROTH SUCKS AT IT TOO!"

"HEY! I-I..." Garroth sputtered.

I laughed and nudged Dante, "My Irene Dante, lighten up a little bit! Anyway, we should get back to Aphmau, Logan, and Laurence."

As we headed back, no one said much of anything. Which left me alone to my thoughts.

It felt good to laugh again, Dante's companions are really something...

I can trust them...

At the werewolf tribe...

We had finally made to the Western Werewolf tribe and were greeted by both familiar and unfamiliar faces.

I recognized Donna and Kiki right away, but was I didn't recognize a particular woman with gray eyes.

Although something about her seemed so familiar, I just couldn't put my finger on it.

But if she's a friend of Aphmau's, I'm sure I can trust her...

Trust...

Never thought I could be able to do that again...
