Chapter 28- Relationships & Secrets

I'm sorry that I haven't been updating daily like I promised, but then school decided to be like, "Oh yeah, you have 5 tests! On the same day..."

Don't you just love school? DX

So when I wasn't testing, I was studying my butt off and trying to edit videos that I had fallen behind on so I hope you guys can understand that, but I will be updating daily again starting today.

And yeah, I'll just get into the chapter now.

"See ya Am!" Dante waved.

"Bye Dante," I waved back, "Don't get lost!"

Garroth had ordered for Dante to search for a merchant that had gotten lost on his way to Phoenix Drop.

"I won't!"

I smiled.

He's so going to get lost.

A Half an Hour Later...

"Um, Amethyst?" Garroth approached me.

"Yeah?"

"You know how I sent Dante out to find that merchant-"

"Dingbat got himself lost, didn't he?"

Garroth nodded.

Called it.

I sighed, "Ugh, I'm on it."

"Wait," Garroth stopped me, "You don't know the area that well either and Nicole already went out to find him."

Nicole? Why-

OH.

Dante did tell me that he's into Nicole, but I didn't think-

But wait, she isn't a guard, and she hasn't been here for that long either...

"But Nicole doesn't know the area any better, why send her out? Why didn't you get Laurance or in fact, why didn't you go yourself?"

"I would've, but Nicole just kind of decided to go out on her own, and since she doesn't seem to be too fond of me, I didn't want to stir the pot any further."

"I see..."

"In any case, I'm going to be heading on over to Lady Aphmau's house to discuss this matter with her. But I promise that we'll find a way to bring Dante and Nicole back safe and sound."

I chuckled, "Heh, I'm sure they're fine, besides, Dante may be a dingbat, but he's a dingbat that can protect himself. As for Nicole, I don't really know her all too well but I'd say that from the looks of it, she'll be okay on her own."

He smiled, "I'm sure you're right, but I'd better inform Lady Aphmau of this- Oh! And watch out for any... Cats... On your patrol today."

I had almost forgotten about Urla, Donna's mother, had thrown cats all over the place...

How does she even do that?!?

"Oh, right... " I sighed, "Thanks for the reminder, see you around Garroth!"

Later that Day...

"Hey Laurance!"

I had decided to stop by the docks to check up on Laurance while he was on watch duty of Katelyn's ship.

And he was... Wearing his helm?

Um... Why?

"Uh, Laurance-"

He turned to face me, "You're about to ask me about the helm, right?"

I laughed, "How'd you guess?"

"Aphmau just asked me the same thing." He replied.

"So, why are you wearing your helm? I thought you had told me that helmets was Garroth's thing." I joked.

"B-Because..." He sighed, "I was nervous about asking this to your face..."

I stared at him, confused, "Nervous about asking me what?"

He exhaled, "I guess I couldn't avoid this conversation forever..."

"...Laurance?"

"Am, I wanted to ask you... Would you... Or at least consider... Being my girlfriend?"

...

...

...

WHAT?

I stared at the ground and blushed like mad.

"I-I'm sorry, it's just, GAH! I know that I tend to just jump into things, but I just thought that I'd-"

I sighed, "Laurance, it's not that I don't want to be your girlfriend, you're an amazing guy, it's just, my past experiences with relationships haven't been the best and I-"

Laurance removed his helm, put down his sword and shield, and rested his hands on my shoulders.

"I know Am, but I promise that I'm not like that. I wanted to kill Jason when you told me about him. I wanted nothing more than to make him pay for what he did to you and tell him that he let an amazing girl get away."

I blushed.

"Am, I want you to be happy, I would never, and I mean NEVER, do anything that would hurt you."

I lifted my head and wiped a tear from my eye, "You promise?"

He gave me a reassuring smile.

"I promise."

In the Guard Station...

"So, you guys are officially a thing?" Dante asked.

The two of us were in the room that we shared in the Guard Station.

I blushed, "Heh, yeah..."

"That's nice..." Dante looked away.

"Um, Dante?"

He turned his head.

"Yeah?"

"Are you okay? You seem a little... Distracted..."

He gave me a dazed look, "Huh? Yeah, I'm okay..."

"You sure? Aphmau said that you were acting kinda weird when you came back to Phoenix Drop."

He shook his head, "I'm fine, I've just been thinking a lot, don't worry about it."

I decided to stop my interrogation, "Okay, if you insist... But if you need to talk, I'm here..."

Dante smiled weakly, "Thanks Am, goodnight..."

"Goodnight..."

I can't shake the feeling that something is wrong with Dante...

But what happened?
